BTW, this was a seriously failed reduction down to 1.0 units. You ddn't have to wait the full 6 six cycles, and you could go straight back to the last good dose, which was 4.0 units. Or slightly under if you are nervous about him eating. I wouldn't linger long at these low doses. How's the ketone testing going?

I am hesitant to go straight back to 4u after what he has been through, Id rather go up in some steps. I haven't been able to get any ketone tests in. I can try again tonight. He isnt a fan of the concept.

Is Gordy still a member of the CPC?
He was this morning, but he didnt lick his snacks clean. *sigh*

Did Gordy actually hypo, or just low numbers? I don't see anything particularly low on the SS. I see a p'titis episode and lowish numbers with not eating. I caught Neko in the 20's :eek: and other than an overfull depot, she wasn't any more sensitive to insulin. Gordy's good depot is long gone. I see nothing that says 4.0 units was too much insulin.

With no ketone testing and too little insulin, that's also a concern. I think you could do larger increments. An argument could be made he barely saw yellow on 1.0 units, which would mean a 0.5 unit increase. I personally would go quite a bit higher. Chances are you are letting glucose toxicity take hold and you'll end up at 4.0 units or more. But I wouldn't do a bigger increase until you can monitor closely for a couple cycles.

@Wendy&Neko

In my opinion he hypo'd. I don't have the numbers from the vet, but both times I brought him in, they struggled to keep him up at safe number (which they were using 100 on an AT for that point). The first time he hit 35 from high 300s in 5 hours. (That was the longest 30 minutes drive in my life!!!) The second time he dropped 300 points in 4 hours and probably which much lower when I got him in. Normally even if he isn't feeling well, he puts up a massive fight at the vets and they didn't really have to battle with him. That tells me he was definitely feeling off.

I cant really monitor the depot growth until Saturday.

Im going to go wirh the 2u for now and if he is still stuck in a few days, I'll get him to 3u.

His PS tonight was 242, so he is trying to come down some.

(I definitely value your advice and wisdom and I do consider everything said. But at the end of the day, I worry about pushing him too far too fast. :blackeye: )

Safety first. I had wondered if he'd shown hypo symptoms. He was clearly feeling icky due to the p'titis. Which is different than a hypo.

Back in the early days, Neko earned a few reductions from the 400's. Those fast drops can be scary. :bighug:
