Well, isn't this just lovely. Glad I am off. Not sure what to do with his vet visit this morning. I am stalling - no food. Will retest in 30 min.

Stalling 52/53

Fed

No shot.

I really don't want to skip - he always skyrockets when going to the vet. I don't know what to do.

Come on Gizmo, bring it on up, I agree I wouldn’t want to skip, since he’s going to vet stall little longer, then I would try my hardest to shoot cause that vet thing I’m sure will bring it up too, that’s what I would do
Get back to lagoon a Gizmo :D

Maybe wait a little longer and how much the food brings his numbers up. If the food doesn't bring his numbers up, I think you should skip since his vet appointment isn't until close to nadir.
Yeah that’s why I asked, didn’t dawn on me till now, hmmm what time is vets

Have you tested again? I am about to fall asleep sitting here. My neighbors shot off fireworks for an hour and a half last night. I need to log off, but I wanted to see what Gizmo's next number is.

Will in about 5 min. That will be 1 hour from normal shot time and about 30 min from food.

Since he hasn't come up much with food, you may need to skip today. At least you will be home to monitor if you shoot. I'm logging off to go btb. Good luck. I'll check in later.

Well look at Gizmo! You could always feed a little bit of higher carb food and boost him up so you can shoot and stay close to your schedule. He is likely to bounce from these lower numbers.
He isn't eating real good but I am home. I don't want to give Mirtz (yet) because it tends to make him aggressive and he already gets aggressive at the vets. I was going to give him a dose tonight. I just don't want to drain the depot completely.

I understand about draining the depot.....he's been is good numbers. Maybe do a BCS dose if he is going to eat for you

Sending vetty vines! Gizmo sure knows how to throw curveballs to you.
He is going in for a BW recheck of his anemia with the IM - this was the only time I could get him in while I was off and he made an exception (this is his administrative day?) to see him.

Any suggestions for dose tonight?
Lizzie, if he is too the moon with his numbers,( say over 200) I would shoot through the bounce, shoot the old dose once more then reduce tomorrow AM to the new dose of 1 unit .

ETA: He really didn't earn a reduction since he was over 50. I wouldn't count the 49 because that was a stalling number without food.......It's your call, if you are going to be around for a few days, I think I would stick with the 1.25 dose to keep these numbers going. You can always reduce if you see him getting too low for comfort when you return to work.

Good morning , Lizzie ! I do believe this is Gizmo’s version of July 4th fireworks :woot:
Ha! :p

I swear it has something to do with the epogen shot but no clue as to how or why o_O I am going to discuss with the vet. I am hoping we will be going to a maintenance dose.

Back from IM visit which went really good! HCT was at 42% which is perfect. Epogen goes to maintenance dose of 20U 1x/week!! YAY!

The best news it he pee'ed in his crate on the way home and there was absolutely NO blood - not even a slight discoloration!!! I am so thrilled. We go back for a full senior panel in a month.

The lab work was done in house at the hospital so they just checked a few levels.

Na 146
K 3.2
CI 199
iCa 1.25
TCO2 19
Glu 218
BUN 81
Crea 3.4
Hct 42%
Hb* (*via Hct) 13

No other concerns.

He gave me the ok to start the potassium pill so will be ordering those today.

Not bad after the skipped shot and vetty stress. Wonder if he'll come down some now that you are home?

Great vet visit! Yah for no blood in the urine! Did he behave at the vet's?

:joyful::joyful::joyful:

Well. I did talk them into muzzling him for the blood draw (vs sedating). He just makes a ton of noise and intimidates the techs. I think it helps them to see how I handle him (with a strong hand and voice). He very, very rarely will strike out unless his "kitty minutes" have run out.
He must sound like Andy does, a rabid dog but no bite lol
