Tucker ate breakfast like a ravenous lion...but I noticed the white balls on his face are not round and full, more raisin-like today. A sign he isn't feeling great. Very sad after seeing him so happy lately.
 
Sorry that Tucker is not feeling great. I keep hoping for a blue number again. Maybe at dose=4.5, then Tucker will have some good nadirs.

Be thankful for a good appetite. If you read through other posts, appetite issues are a plague in our diabetic kittehs. Leo had issues on and off. Just the past 2 days, he is eating like a champ again.

Come back down that slippery slide I told you about last week and press the button for the blue floor.
I'm glad he is eating well ......I agree with @JeffJ that a healthy appetite is a real plus, but sorry to see that AMPS and the not feeling as well :(
Did you get a test in after PMPS last night? .....it is possible he dropped lower and is bouncing today.
I hope you are continuing to improve
 
PMPS: 14.1 Dose: 4.25 His white balls on his face (there has to be a better name for them....) were all round and happy at tea time. He gobbled his food down though. Last night I did do a late test at +6 and I think it was 16.

Did you get any tests in during the day today?
I'd get a test before you go to bed tonight as well.

What a momentus event - 2 blues in the same nadir cycle. Maybe 4.25 is the magic dose. We will see after a few more cycles. As a reminder, the blue numbers basically give his kidneys a rest. And less glucose toxicity for his whole body.

I'm afraid the party got started too soon. :( Check out today's test.......so so wonky.
 
Yes, but little parties are fun too. Let's put him up to 4.5 for the next 6 doses. We will keep moving him up until he has some regular responses.

If you read some of the other regular posters, and their spreadsheets, you will see that many cats fluctuate. The kittehs which get very little (like 0.1 or 0.5) seem to be the easiest to regulate. From my general recollection, I think the higher dose cats seem to bounce around a lot.

Please ensure that you are moving the physical injection site around. You want to reduce scarring, and have good absorption through different parts of the body. If you inject in the same site everyday, that gives poor results. It's easy to inject in the same site...from just being habitual. But it is not a good practice to inject in the same site.

Ok, I'll make sure that Kurt is moving it around each time. Tucker is still hungry but much more flat today......I feel so bad for him!
 
You are doing good. And Tucker is maintaining his weight by absorbing calories from the insulin you give him.That is step one, and it is a healthy step.

Step 2 is the regulation where we try to get him as healthy as a non-diabetic cat. Tucker will be hungry in the non-regulated state because some of the calories are still getting flushed.

Heck, Little Dude is hungry all the time, and he is not even diabetic! I should tell him that he is regulated and he doesn't need to eat all the time.:D
 
Also you are keeping him safe. You are testing before each shot. We have some bad situations on the forum where we have lost cats (hypos) because they were not tested pre-shot. So you guys have that part down!

Size of dose has nothing to do with how much a cat bounces. We've had cats on way higher doses that have been flat like pancakes (Pig, Phoebe) for examples of high dose kitties in nice regulated numbers. And cats like Girlie bouncing like a rubber ball on 0.1 units. It's not surprising to see Tucker bounce. It's a result of you finally getting him into numbers he's not used to. It's progress. :) However, he may not like those nicer numbers at first.

I shot around the shoulders for five years, alternating left and right side. It was the only place Neko had shorter hair. And she objected when I tried the flank.
 
Thanks Wendy. I must have a convenient memory of the bouncy cats - probably because I mostly look at the high dose ones.

Leo has kinda long hair. I just find a new piece of skin (with hair), and pull out the skin tent and plunge the needle on in.
