With me being ill I am not able to test the way I should and I know there are not many tests but by just going from today and yesterday, there is a pattern of the BG going up somewhere between 5 and 5 1/2 hours.

Yesterday's levels
AM BG 446 gave 1u Novolin N
+1 hour 362
+2 hour 240
+5 hour 146
+6 hour 239

PM BG 369 gave 1u Novolin N
+1 hour 171
+2 hour 150
I got too ill to take any more tests but he stayed by my side and was acting normal

This morning
AM BG 398 fed and gave 1 u Novolin N
+4 hours 194
+5 1/2 hours 315
+6 1/2 hours 345

Like I said...I know I haven't test much but from the little I have tested Seems that somewhere between 4 and 5 hours his BG starts to rise again. I am go I g to try my best to get a few more tests in this evening...hopefully I will feel well enough to get the 4, 4 1/2, & 5 hour in.

Hi Mary @Mary E. Beavers , great job on the testing! :bighug:

Yes, Novolin tends to peak quite early on in the insulin cycle. But peaking at around 5 hours after shot is pretty good for Novolin; in some kitties it is much earlier.
Because of its short action Novolin is considered to be one of the harder insulins to work with. But some kitties here have done fine on it, and some have even gone into remission.
If it turns out that Novolin isn't suitable for your kitty there are other insulins you can switch to.

Do have a read of our beginner's guide to Novolin. It has a lot of useful info. And do ask any and all questions that you want to.

Unfortunately, that's about normal for Novolin....that's why we don't really like it for cats. It just wears off too soon!!

Hope you are feeling better this afternoon!
Well unfortunately that is all I can afford right now I am going to keep going for another few days but then gonna talk to another vet about possibly give 3 times a day if he keeps going up that high after 5 hours
I am still feeling very poorly but trying my best to test him some more...he would not touch the can food again this evening so had to give him raw boneless skinless chicken breast...not very nutritious but better then nothing
