I am still screwing up her glucose testing, took 3 times tonight, first one did not get enough blood as she swiped her ear and spread it out (dang long hair kitty), 2nd time using a new test strip my machine kept getting error 6 or error 7, 3rd time I got a nice drop for a change and bingo it worked.

Her score was a 72 tonight, so once again I am skipping her Insulin (Vetsulin) tonight (see chart in signature). PS: this last 24 hours has been her best eating, she ate 3oz last night, and most of 3oz this morning/today (I am leaving food out, and taking anything left 2 hours before her glucose tests) She seems great, her litterbox usage is back to normal, her water intake is about normal, her food intake is about normal, she seems happy again (except when I pick her up to sit and do a glucose reading - even that is not too bad) I do have the insulin shots down with no problems at least.

Yes I have been rolling my insulin bottle in my hands for a good 30 seconds, and I have been double checking my dosage, but remember I did leave the insulin out 11 hours after her first shot at the vet and bringing it home.

I know I have to do a curve, but days have been too crazy to have time to get one every 2 hours, and I really want to be proficient before I stab her every 2 hours, poor Princess is not going to have any ears left the way I am going....

Am I dumb to wait (I am worried if her glucose is 72 now what was she earlier in the day), or should just stab away. One thing for sure I AM SO GLAD I AM TESTING HER BEFORE MEALS at the least, despite my vet saying not to stress Princess with it at this time.

As always WE BOTH thank you all for your support.

You don't really need to do a full curve.....if you can just start getting at least 1 test somewhere mid-cycle on the AM cycle and a "before bed" test on the PM cycle, it'll help to start filling in what's going on between shots.

Most cats go lower at night, so it's really important to try to get that "before bed" test in so you'll know if you need to set an alarm

Thank goodness you are testing!!! That 72 is a definite No-Shot with Vetsulin!!

Sounds like both you and princess are doing really well. Glad to hear she is eating and drinking well. That's a great sign. Sounds like princess is doing OK with testing. And you will get better with practice. Home testing is so important, especially early on.

She gets her Insulin at 11a and 11pm, I usually go to bed at 2-3am, wake up at 6:30a (get the paper and use the restroom), then back to sleep until 9am when I pull her dish up before her 11am test.

I will get her reading today around 5pm to see where it is between shots. Note: this mornings was 356 after skipping her shot last night.

Thanks for your input Chris.
