Okay here we go....Squeakers and I can start from scratch now that You wonderful people on here straightened me out on the syringe markings. Feeling very Grateful !!!

7:45 am BG 380
fed Special Kitty Super Super
8:45 am Gave 1U Novolin N (and Yes this time it is definitely 1U)

I will retest in 4 to 6 hours when I know he will be at his lowest...feeling bad with all the sticks

Pretty soon these early days will seem like a distant memory. We've all been there, pacing back and forth, is this right, is he dead or just sleeping, why is my hair turning white. Now I can do this with a migraine in the dark.
I've said it before, this is what the internet was meant for.
Thanks we will get there I am sure....and your Noah looks a little like my Squeakers...well what he used to look like...hopefully he will gain his weight back

Glad to hear the mystery was solved. Waiting to see how it goes.
I am sure it will go well from here he is already in the 300's from the 500's and sometimes 600's he was in just a week ago...and now that I know the correct dose to give I am sure he will do great

Squeakers 6 hr BG was 102 so looks like 1 unit will do the trick

Sorry for not posting followups until now but I am feeling fatigued" very weak and dizzy with a lot of mental confusion and have been having extremely painful leg cramps. I have given myself 100 units of B-12 and I certainly hope it works. I have not been able to give Squeakers any more test and more then likely he is in need of another insulin shot but I can not stand long enough to help him. I hope that this B-12 shot kicks in soon and that that is what is wrong with me.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. Hope the B12 does the trick. Take care of yourself first, otherwise you won't be able to take care of Squeakers!

102 is a nice number, but with an insulin like Novalin, it's good to have even more of a safety buffer, especially at first while you are learning Squeakers' patterns. Let's see what the pros say about that 1.0 dose, but my two cents says you could drop it even more.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks...maybe I could try 1.5 U when I am feeling better to try and get him down to like 60

OOPS! I wasn't clear in what I said!

I meant to drop the dose, to 0.75U or 0.5U, not try to get his BG to drop more.

Again, I'll defer to those with more experience with Novalin, but my vote would be for a lower dose when you next shoot.

With a strong-acting insulin like you’re using your goal range for nadir should be no lower than 90 - 110. A nadir of 60 is far too low. The 1 u dose got him to 102 and that’s low enough. I suggest careful monitoring between +4 and +7 while he’s on 1 u. He might need a slightly smaller dose than 1 u.
