When the numbers are in the normal range for two weeks without insulin.
Ok. I am just curious because my cat Tyler who was recently diagnosed at the beginning of the month is doing way better than Booger.. Tyler's system is slower.. There were a few days where I withheld food bc he was below 200 and waited to see if we would come up but didnt so No Shoot. Then yesterday morning I checked him at 7am, he was 162... I waited until 8 to see if he would come up a little more before feeding... He was about 190 something, closer to 200. So I fed him. checked him about 45 minutes later and he was 37! I was like wait... what??? no insulin was given at all. So I am not sure how he went from 190 to 37 from just eating wet food... Anyway. Here is a screenshot of his sheet. He is doing really well. Was a little high last night before eating and this morning.

You probably caught it early in the second cat so he's got a good shot at remission. Good luck

@JanetNJ what is considered normal blood sugar rage? online says 120-300.... I did not give him insulin this morning bc he ever got up to 200. He did get to 202 at one point today but was 184. I waited an hour and he was 194. Should I give him some short of insulin??

On a human meter 50-120
On a pet meter 68-150

You could give a reduced dose of you can monitor

I don't see entries on your spreadsheet for today

2 is definitly too much and recently 1 looks to be too much. No I wouldn't have shot him under 200, and maybe try 0.5 when he's over 200, 1 if he's over 300.

That 37 looked like a wonky reading. I would have retested right away. The drop was probably a little too small.

Is it going to mess him up if he only gets insulin once a day? I have noticed that his blood sugar doesn't go up as fast after eating as boogers. Do you think its because he is older or that his pancreas is creating insulin just not enough? He was 142 when I checked him at 8:30pm and I waited an hour after he got done eating to recheck and he was 151. <-- see what I mean. Booger would have been like 300-400 if he was 142 and then ate. BTW I am very concerned about Boogers PS numbers.... I have tried breaking his food up in to smaller portions so he eats a little something several times throughout the day and night... Still ends up high...

My non diabetic became diabetic from steroid usage but I caught it right away like you and I was weaning the steroid down while figuring out a safe dose for him... What I am getting at I don't think you would mess him up with 1 shot if remission is coming. My Rico got a shot here n there for a few weeks and none for over a year now.
I was dosing very cautiously because I knew his pancreas worked.

Booger might benefit from a slight increase to 1.75 to see some of those nice low blues and healing high greens

For Tyler just give him what he needs when he needs it. It's OK to skip when he's lower.

I ordered some more strips. I am using my human meter bc I am out of insulinx strips. I should get a box monday so I plan on doing a glucose curve on them both. We shall see. I feel good about Booger's nadir numbers its just the Preshot numbers that concern me..
