Starting a new job this week and my hrs are going to kinda wacky. shots maybe hr early some days and hr late some nights. She is on Lantus, 2.0 units per shot twice a day. SO when I give her a shot an hr early should i just give her a tad less like 1.9? Then when im hr late 2.1? I know I dont have a SS but I do test her usually daily, but not as much now that i wont be home as much, her numbers are very controlled now. Just asking for advice at this point!!

This is a hard one, Lantus does requiere both the regular schedule and regular dose, with Lantus giving a shot 1 hour early could act as if you raised the dose and one hour or more late could act like you decreased the dose, and there's no way of knowing if 0.1u (or any other dose adjustment) would be enough, it could came back to you having to monitor him very close to avoid hypo, and that would be exactly the oposite of what you need.

With Lantus you can have no more that 15 minutes slack but if you move your shooting time more than that you will have to move the next shoot also and then go back slowly by 15 minutes each cycle or 1/2 hour every 2 cycles ( slow process to go back to your original schedule)

Ill be working some 11hr days so to be on schedule maybe hard to do, and my schedule will change. So ive been testing more today, normal peak time +12.00hr and + 14.00hr,"2 hr after her shot",her numbers are staying pretty much the same at 12 and 14 hr, I havent tested to much at this time before,is it normal for this to stay around the same number at 12 and 14 hr.thx

I think yes, especially if she ate after her shoot, usually when they go down at +2 we know is going to be an active cycle and will have to monitor if not we know is probably going to be nice and smooth, that's one of the reasons it is recommended to test before going to sleep, nadir is usually between 4-6 but that can change each cat is different

You may consider the SLGS protocol that requires a little bit less testing, that may help you with your schedule, but it still requires shooting every 12 hours without much slack
