Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting and I need advice desperately, please.

My name is Sonia and my kitty is Leo. He was diagnosed in February 2018 and it’s been a long terrifying road with bad advice and no support. I eventually found the FDMB and read some information about doing a tight protocol, which we started on May 4th.

I finally completed Leo’s SS and was hoping someone could take a look and tell me what we’re doing wrong.

If you need me to translate the SS to the US version or answer any questions please let me know.

Thank you so much for being there, I’ve had a chance to read some of the posts and you people are truly amazing.

Firstly, Leo is an absolutely beautiful cat. What a handsome fella.

I don't think your doing anything wrong. Diabetes is a matter of patience and just continuing to try and find what works best for Leo.

Spreadsheet looks good there's a lot of blues on there and that's a good thing. There's always a possibility you missed the right dose by raising by a half unit rather than a quarter. Or by not holding a dose long enough. I noticed there were a couple times you held a dose for less than 6 cycles.

My personal experience, and I haven't heard of anyone else mentioning it, was that when I put Lucy on zobaline her numbers seemed to be kind of all over the place. Whether the zobaline was the cause, I do not know.

As far as 'puddingpoo'. No clue there. Maybe food related? But with a 16 lbs cat...I just hope he goes outside. :(:nailbiting:

Thank you Chris!

Leo's been on Zobaline only since the beginning of May/18 but the puddingpoo has been going on since February so it doesn't look like that could be the cause in Leo's case. He's been on a couple of one week probiotics prescriptions from the previous vet but it didn't help. I'm looking into some from the pet health food store. And to answer your question, no he does not go outside! Yikes!

Hi Sonia

Welcome to the forum. This is from another Leo to your Leo! Kudos to you on keeping up the chart.

Is Leo also getting prednisolone? If so that raises BG during the cycle it was given.

Taking BG measurements are important. I wonder if you are ensuring there is a 2 hour "no food" given for each measurement. If not then Leo's BG values are affected by food. Let's see if you can do that for the nadir (+6 hr) part of the cycle. That way we get a measurement that is not food affected and it should show the effectiveness of the insulin dose.

The runny poop can have many causes. I would have your vet do a fecal sample to see if there is anything like bacteria. Our Little Dude pretty much has permanent runny poop - poor Dude!

Hi Jeff,

Thank you. No my Leo's not on any meds, only Zobaline (vitamin b) because I heard it could help with neuropathy. I was not even aware of the 2 hour "no food" thing but I'm pretty sure he didn't eat between the +4 and +6 BG.

I got a fecal sample done a while back and nothing showed up. I know, runny poop is terrible, I feel so bad for them. I'm hoping some probiotics can help. Fingers crossed.

The best way to resolve neuropathy is thru BG regulation. Target the +6 nadirs for 100-150. When regulation is achieved, the glucose toxicity to the neural sheaths is mostly gone. Then the Zobaline (b12) can be effective.

There are many threads on the forum about this. You may want to search them.

To clarify it's OK to feed mid cycle. It's before the preshot test that you want to not feed for two hours.

Have you tried adding some pumpkin to your cats food to help with the runs?
