Pokie break day for Miss Ollie. She is herself this morning. The vetty took a lot of spunk out of her. She fought the blood draw. They ended up having to shave her bib on both sides to get it. Burrito wrapped her. Didn't get enough with first side had to do other side. Yet she surfed blue and green all day.

My schedule today includes making bread pudding as a treat for my dad. Getting my deck rail planters planted if rain holds off. I was eaten alive by the bugs yesterday getting some perennials in. Still have more to do but have to clear more out of the garden. It's a rocky slope long neglected before we even moved in. I realized the few flowers I bought already are all blue or purple. Have to get different colors to plant. This garden will be years in the making. Have to cut out some saplings and fix or remove the previous lattice work that's there.

I admit I'm watching all the royal wedding prep and will get up early to watch the wedding. I wish they would say when the wedding itself would start. I really don't want to see the hours and hours before. But I might get a +9 or +10 in because of it.

Hugs to all.

I think it starts around noon their time (5 hours ahead of EST).

Hope weather holds and good luck with the gardening. Bugs be away please!

Hope Olive has a good rest after yesterday's adventures at the vet.
Vines for  and :D.

I haven't heard of the IGF test going to Antech first. There are specific instructions for the blood draw and it was sent directly to MSU but it's been over a year for us so maybe that changed. Did he test for IAA too or only Acro? Sorry the vetty trip was so stressful for Miss Olive but glad she's back to normal today. I'm sure she'll come back down today.

I trimmed our trees the other day and some have fire ants :arghh:

At this point I don't know what tests are going where. He said the Igf and IAA are done together automatically. Yet bill only says igf 1. I questioned many times about test being sent to msu. He says it will be done. I have a call into them to find out and if it isn't ordered I told them to order it.

How's Leo, I was just looking for you when you posted here.

Fire ants, nasty buggers.

Hmmm, something doesn't sound right. As far as I know they are not done auto-magically.

Leo is pretty much back to normal. Eating normally although sometimes he's a bit picky and needs some purebites chicken as a topper  I'm certainly not complaining though!

Well hello there officially Olive and Paula! Wow, is Olive a little shrew at the vetty office. Good luck with the result.

I love gardens that only have 2 colors; I think it give big punch.

Bread pudding, my favorite. Maybe you could share your recipe?

Glad you mentioned the wedding.....I thought it was 12 noon our time. Sounds like I will be watching it shortly after t/f/s tomorrow AM. :)

So got return call back regarding tests. Dr said he consulted with endocrinologist, chief in the country. This "chief" says the test is not reliable. His staff never does it since there is no treatment other than raising dose which we are doing. My vet says he listens to the recommendations. I said but it will ease my mind as to why the dose got high and possibly could go back to being high or higher. He goes it can always be done later. My response is we already drawn the blood so let's do it now so she doesn't have to be restuck since it stressed her out so much . So he will call wherever the sample was sent and see if they will send it on or back to him and he will send it out.

I think I will need to start looking for a new vet. I have noticed he doesn't seem so interested as he was with Smokey. It could be he doesn't like me being so informed or involved as much. Maybe I'm tad overbearing since I had other tests done because I didn't want to wait for months. I don't know.

I would be. Some of their egos are too much to deal with. You might remember how many vets I went through with Doodles. As you know from here the tests are reliable and there are a few treatments now available. SRT and Cabergoline. I'd call around and find a vet that has an account set up with MSU. Might even have to call a few IM vets. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Sniff, sniff....do I smell bread pudding?? A good bread pudding is one of life's best pleasures!!!

I want the recipe too!!

Poor Olive....so stressful for her and then to have the vet not listen and send the blood to the right place for the right tests:mad::mad:

We're doing the hard work!! Why can't they just do what we ask? It's no skin off their nose if we pay for tests they think we don't need!!

Ok so I will be looking for new vet. They called back and said MSU doesn't run the test anymore. They will have to call around to find a place that does and Olive would have to be restuck because it has to be fresh sample.

So I called MSU, guess what they do it. So I have to find a vet who will. It's going to take a week or so to find one, get appointment quickly, get them to agree to do it, Olive could earn another reduction by then or go back up in dose, is it worth having it done in 2-3 weeks.

As far as the bread pudding. My mother made for years not following a recipe. I think she just mixed eggs and milk poured it over the bread, sprinkle in raisins and cinnamon. I however need a recipe. The one I did about a year ago I can't find. This one today is okay, it has sugar and butter in it and I don't remember ever putting those in.

Anyway, I used Texas bread because it thick. I don't crumble it, I just throw slices in baking dish. This is what I followed. Not enough cinnamon for me.

I hope you point out to the former vet that MSU does indeed still run the test, and you got that from them, personally! It's outrageous that the vet lied to you like that!

IKR. I've been going there for 9 yrs. He was great treating Smokey, was open to all ideas. He has given me many supplies for free over the years. Sometimes he didn't charge me for visits.

I had gotten the feeling with last visit he thinks that I've overstepped. Since I had us done and I switched insulin without his knowledge. But said he was glad I did the us since it was not normal.

Hello Olive and Paula!!!!

Sorry about the problems with the vet and blood draw.
Here are some
:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

And here is a recipe for bread and butter pudding, my friend made it for us it was delicious, she substituted brioche for panetone and added chocolate chips it was yummy
No cinnamon in this recipe but the chocolate chips added a delicious twist.

Interesting recipe. Will try it. Minus the marmalade.

Maybe try and bring up the issue with him before walking out? If you've been going a long time and were happy about the treatment of your other cat, and something feels tense this time around, maybe put it on the table? If a talk can spare you the search for a new vet... might be worth trying.

Sorry about the issues with the vet. I wish I could say it was unique. I had to ask my vet to humour me for the high dose tests. Clinic owner called them exotic tests. A couple years later he admitted I knew more than him about acromegaly. Admittedly a low bar. We have a vet lab here who does all the packaging needd to gett blood across the border. Idexx sent blood to them, who sent it to MSU. Easier for my vet (first time doing it), harder on my wallet with the extra middle man. Tee here, auto correct originally said meddle man. :p Anyway, my vet didn't mind me being right, liked to learn, so I stayed with her. She was also up to date on kidney issues and knew when to throw in the towel and refer me to an IM vet.

BTW, MSU is the only place in the world that does IAA testing. Knowing if you are dealing with IAA does help dosing.

I am fuming reading this thread. He just didn’t want to be bothered getting the sample back. I wonder if after all that back and forth the sample would have given valid results. I’d start asking friends which vet they use. Sorry you will need to drag her back for blood too.

I go back Tuesday with civvie Tripper, so will talk to him then.

That's it. With Smokey he was excited to learn about Lantus. And thrill about me home testing. He learned to trust my intuition with the p'titis and that there was some heart or breathing problems. So he humored me then and everything came back positive when he didn't think it would. And after, he was so on top of Smokey's care and making sure follow ups were done.

Did he think I wouldn't check with msu??? I think antech lab is the middleman. I don't think they want to bother. Or vet only has account with them. I wonder how accurate the cardiopet test is then. It was sent to antech even though I specifically asked for idexx. Vet said idexx is to costly.

I don't know what changed. Me getting the us done, getting lev (associate wanted to go to N), me not staying with associate, only saw her so I could get Olive in 3 weeks earlier. Just don't know.

I strongly suggest you ask.

Something like "I don't know if it's just me or what, but I really need to talk to you about something. You've always been so good to me and my pets but it seems like lately there's been a change in your attitude....like you feel like I'm bothering you or something or questioning your advice. We've always been able to discuss different options and you've always seemed to be open to things I'd found elsewhere. Is there a problem we need to discuss?"

Very busy few days for you.
In case you're feeling lonely in your looooong wait to change your user name, I tried for months before this software deigned to change mine.

He is owner of 3 practices. So I wouldn't even be able to go to them as he works in all 3 of them.

Might it be possible to ask him about the changes you sense? From what you've written, he sounds a very caring guy. Is it possible that his feelings are hurt? He'd never admit it, but maybe.

I changed it the day Olive was transported (something to do while waiting). Once we decided on the name I tried to change and bit said you had to wait 90 days.
