Hello all,
I just received my very first order from Marks Marine Pharmacy. The good news is I got it much faster than I thought I would (ordered Saturday and received today). The bad news is, the 5-pack of Basaglar insulin pens expire 12/2018. I am beyond disappointed, as I had heard they usually have a year, sometimes two until they expire.

Have any of you experienced weak expiration dates? I want to call and talk to them about it, but I figured I should check with you to see if this is normal.

I would call and talk to them......I've never gotten Basaglar from them, but the Lantus we use usually has at least 2 years before hitting the expiration date.

For future reference though, it might be a good idea when ordering from Marks to make sure they know it's for a cat and that you need late expirations. I never thought of that

Thanks Chris. I let them know it was for my cat, but it never occurred to me to ask for a late expiration. I just assumed (I know I know ) I would get at least a year....

Oh that is bad! So sorry to hear this. Def call them & keep those cold pacs to return if they will! I hope they’ll exchange in a timely manner. Good luck Amanda!

I sent them an email today (I'm working all day) asking about it. I was kind, but expressed my obvious disappointment (considering all the good things I've heard about them). Apparently, the manufacturer hasn't released a new lot of insulin, and that's literally the latest expiration date available (for Basaglar) anywhere in Canada. I really wish I would have known that prior, as I probably would have said fuhgeddaboudit! and ordered Lantus instead. I'm still partially waffling on whether I should return it, but I think I'll just use what I have and cross the expiration bridge when I get to it. We still don't have any idea about how he'll react on this (or any depot) insulin, so there's time to make decisions. I think I'm going to call or email them and ask them if this is a normal occurrence with this manufacturer so I know for the future.

I received my first order (of Lantus) from Mark's Marine today and was also surprised at how fast it arrived and how well packaged it was. When I was inquiring initially I did ask about the expiration date and they told me 2 years. I think just as a rule of thumb it's good to ask about expiration dates b/c we (usually) use such a small amount of insulin for cats compared to a human so we want to make sure it'll last as long as possible.
