Vet called me back first thing this morning - we're going to try a short run of Buprenex and add in clindamycin, if necessary. I also have the phone number of a veterinary dentist who is a little closer than the last one we saw, and maybe ~ hopefully ~ a little less expensive. I will be setting up a consult, at the very least. In typical fashion, his mouth doesn't seem to be bothering him this morning, lol. He still isn't eating well, though. Apparently, he hates all his food choices now, ugh.

A very hopeful report this AM for Squallie :) Have you both on my heart and mind and in my prayers, Lucy :bighug: Squallie has become Elmo’s brother -from-another -mother and we sure love him and are pulling for him, that the solution to this is easy and safe :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Bupe should help the pain but could decrease the appy. What about appy stimulant?
He's already on Cyproheptadine. He gets a big dose, too, 2 mg twice a day. His appy is lousy right now; if the bupe decreases it, I don't know what I'll do!:nailbiting:

Thank you all so much for the support and encouragement. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I have pretty well decided that, if this dentist thinks he can successfully do a dental on Squallie, I'm going to go for it. If I don't, I'm afraid things will just continue to go downhill for him, and he will just wither away. I can't watch that happen.

I will give the Bupe a try in the meantime, and maybe another round of ABs. Fingers and paws crossed for good appy, no pain, and happy kitty! :cat:

Hoping for optimal outcome, for little Squallie and some ease and rest for you.

Lucy, you are a brave and loving momma bean :bighug::bighug::bighug: Praying now for any future procedure sweet Squallie may need , that it will be successful and he will come thru it with flying colors :bighug::bighug::bighug: and you will have total peace :):bighug:
