He was safe while you were gone.
Your morning shot will be PM+13.5 so you can get back to schedule, correct? It will be interesting to see where he is at by then - it would be nice if the numbers will permit you to string a couple cycles together at the the same dose.

Its not easy - during the 2 free falls down the dosing ladder BK experienced I felt like I was driving down a steep hill with one foot on the gas and the other on the brakes trying to avoid disaster

Looks like he got over the messing with the depot pretty quickly - although as for stringing a couple of cycles together on the same dose goes - last time he started off this low at AMPS he went down to 34 at PMPS. Think I will do another curve today although after my late night last night I am going B2B so may miss the +2 - but I think I will do the 3,5,7,9,11 today.

It's nice to see Silver back in blue. It looks like those pinks yesterday were partly a bounce. I'm glad you can get some extra tests in today. Enjoy your btb.

So much for keeping a dose for more than two cycles @Sandy and Black Kitty - Silver seems to have other ideas. I have just fed him 1/2 can FF so he won't go too much lower but if this had been a work day I imagine I would have come home to lime green. Should I come down 0.5u to 3.5 or just to 3.75?

Looks like Silver is a kitty on a mission...

That PM+13.5 AMPS of 121 is meaningful. I’m thinking maybe 3.25u?
What’s your gut feeling?
See what others say...

(I’ve just boarded a flight to Chicago...bbl)

He’s determined to need less insulin and he’s going to make it known almost regardless of which dose you choose. I think 3.25 sounds wise. The BCS the other day looked more like bounce/NDW to me. Rarely has he shown you what a new dose can do on the very first cycle, it’s just not his style. ;)

He’s looking really great, he’s like a different cat! Is he acting like a kitten again? He must feel so much better, what a wild ride it’s been for him these past few weeks. Asia had a bunch of teeth out at 13 and even though she was “old” she was like a brand new cat post dental.

He's acting fine but even when he was badly controlled he still acted fine. This is cycle two of the 4u tho. 3.25 sounds good but I don't want him back in pinks and yellows.

I think 3.25 is a good dose to try. I believe those pinks were part bounce. I'd try the 3.25 for a couple of days and not increase right away if you see pinks, but give him a chance to come back down. You don't want him to go too low while you are at work.

Okay. 3.25 it is. Can't believe we were at 7u just ten days ago.

Get any tests since that+6? Might be interesting to see where he's nadiring today.

Good luck with the new dose. I hope you can hold it a while.

Yeah I just got a +9 - 61. I did feed him 1/2 a can of FF at +6 or he would likely be in lime green by now. Definitely reducing to 3.25 now.

Okay so I reduced to 2u - he has been in greens all day and below 90 at preshot. I need a dose I can safely give twice a day when I am at work so I am not skipping every other shot. Will get a couple more tests in tonight and see where he is at. Looks like Silver is breaking all the rules and coming down the dosing scale way faster than SLGS allows for.

Just got your tag....man this boy is on a mission for sure!

I see you shot 2u. I would try to keep that does for a at 3 days unless Silver says otherwise. Don't panic on seeing pinks or yellows...I would be surprised if he bounces a bit from being green for so long. His body needs to adjust to the new and improved Silver.

I'll hold only if the numbers say so. I'm not calling the shots here. If he does go to pink I'll have to go up tho. It was a big decrease.

Last time he went into remission he went right from pink to green and stayed there. He does his own thing.

I would hold 2u. Wait for any bounce to clear...then see if this dose is enough. High numbers doesn't necessarily mean he isn't getting enough insulin especially right now.

I agree. If he goes to pink, do not go up, let the bounce clear for safety sake. He is really one a mission.

I'll decide when I see the numbers. I will need to increase if he goes to pink. Not risking another episode of DKA. It's a conservative drop from 4u to 2u so I may just call tonight a BCS and take the normal reduction depending on what I see in the morning.

Just remember a DKA recipe is: Not enough insulin, with in appetence and a systemic stress. You need to weigh in that he is eating and their is no systemic stress and you are going back to work tomorrow. Him being in a higher number with the absence of the two other ingredients for a DKA recipe in my mind should not be as worrisome for you. JMHO.

I am not sure I should have given a shot at all tonight. He has barely come up at +2 after food - onset doesn't start until +4 and nadir at preshot - he could go really low. I need to go to bed in an hour. Two at most. Should I high carb him - and if so, how much?

His cycle patterns may change now that his teeth are all fixed up. This looks like a normal cycle to me!
No. It's not. I am feeding him to steer the curve. It is exactly the same as usual. He goes down lowest at preshot and would have gone to lime green had I not fed him. I am putting all those details in the notes.

Maybe you should get another test and see where he is before you decide what to feed.
Will do. If he holds to pattern I'm expecting green. In which case I'll high carb it as I did that last time and still had low blue the next day. If I get a number below 8 I won't shoot tomorrow.

Fed usual meal as his +4 pretty much the same as +2. Hoping he stays safe for the next 7.5 hrs til AMPS
