You gotta celebrate the successes no matter how small. Doing the happy dance for you and Floyd for that AMPS! :cat:

I know it’s hard not to get discouraged, but looking at the big picture of your SS, real progress has been made since starting TR. He just hit a rough patch, pancreatitis or whatever is going, and he’s recovering from it. Asia is in a big rough patch at the moment, it’s been so frustrating, but you just keep on and do what you need to do and trust that this rough patch is transitory and he will come out the other side and continue making progress.

I’m fumbling my way through R with you, it’s not perfect, but it’s better than not having it and it’s a nice tool to add to the box.

Did you get your high dose results back yet? That’s another huge piece of the puzzle, once you know exactly what you are dealing with, you can formulate a better plan of attack and hopefully even more progress will happen. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I do like that AMPS number, but I just never know WHEN that bounce is going to come. I know it will, but I want to time that R just right - impossible, I know!!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm sorry Asia is in a rough patch now. Sending many vines for her!!

I have not sent in the high dose tests yet. I had to wait for MSU to send an insulted mailer and by the time that came, I decided to switch to Lev, then he got sick, and I just haven't done anything with it yet. The serum is in my freezer, so I'll get it sent out soon.

Thanks for the vines and right back you for Floyd. :bighug:

I feel your pain with the when to give R. Would be easy enough to hammer it down if he wasn’t prone to those sudden dives, Asia can do that too. I’ve decided the safest and best place to give R for Asia is on the rise from one cycle to the next. But I have loads of data to draw from and I know Asia’s patterns all too well, even her pattern exceptions. You’re just getting there with Floyd on TR so it’s a lot more trial and error to recognize the patterns in addition to learning the R. You do have an ace up your sleeve being a vet, you know so many things about cat physiology and critical care many of us do not. You have easy access and resources to keep him safe and work through problems. That’s a very helpful advantage and you’ll be able to help so many more cats with what Floyd teaches you. :)

Not a high dose cat, but still a very interesting and hopeful SS to review, you might recognize some similar chaos. Here’s Girlie, just click the 2017 tab and see it from the beginning:

I think today is fabulous for Floyd compared to where he use to be at. I have absolutely no knowledge of using R except that it would scare the bejeebees out of me. But then TR did to and now I don't know why.

Olive was stuck when I first got her. Nothing seemed to work. Then we revved up her treatment. Progress was finally being made. In the last 2 weeks her dose has gone down 2 units. She still has a few pink preshot but majority of time it's been blue and green.

No doubt Floyd will kick in when he feels like it.

Breakthrough!

Some serious surfage going on in this condo today!

So, do you have a number in mind for whipping out the R?
I was thinking I would shoot when I see 2 increases in a row or a steep increase rather than a specific number.

I'm open to ideas, though if my thought process is not correct!

ETA: I'm not really counting 100 to 111 as an increase due to meter variances.

I like your thinking however how often will you be testing?

I’m thinking the minute you see yellow. Just my gut feeling.

When he was green, he was not as alert, but he's liking the blues. :)
A lot of us have found that happens when they first start spending time in green.
I remember George getting a bit quieter when first in green. He would also demand food, the closer he got to the bowl the lower his BG, I should have calibrated him and it would have saved him the poke.:)
As he spent more time there, it became more normal for him and he would get quite playful and sing quite a lot.
