I would say yes, and you'll find that with the under dose your BG numbers will be higher..........if Mouse's dose is 2.5 then keep to that dose.........we don't "make up" dose from fur shots, or under doses and just go back to your schedule. I'm sure others will post as well.

Call it a partial fur shot. Restart the 2.5 unit cycle count at one tonight. Some cats have a little stronger reaction to the dose after a fur/partial fur shot, so make sure you can monitor tonight. Not all cats do, she could also go high.

I put a post-its on the window sill with the dose in "U", measurement on the calipers and the date the dosage was started and AM/PM cycle.

Even though I use calipers and I shoot 99% of the time, it is just an easy visual JIC.

It’s okay, it happens. Better that he gave 1.5 instead of 3.5, right? Since you’re changing dose a lot recently and you have 2 people shooting, maybe think of a few safety measures you can put in place, like a little notebook in the kitchen with what the next dose should be and check a box to say to shot was given or not. There have been some double shots accidentally given because one person gave one and the other didn’t realize it and gave another shot. I have a lot of extra things like that in place to help prevent mistakes and I’ve still had a few blunders, but I know it helps because I would have had a few more without them.

Mouse will be okay. :cat:

I just checked her numbers, since she was bugging me for more food....always a sign of something going to happen
10pm - 52!
I just gave her some low carb food, and she's not finishing. I'm thinking of appetite pill later on if she keeps going low, so she'll eat. When she gets stubborn about the food, she will leave it. I usually go through all the flavors on hand until I find what she wants.....what she really really wants is her old dry food. Not going to happen!
I'll test again in a half an hour.

If she goes too low and you need to bring her up and she’s being picky, you can use a couple pieces of kibble to get her over 50, don’t feed her a whole bowl or anything. It looks like she still has a couple hours she can drop, so whatever works for her to keep her surfing or bring her numbers up if need be. But because that was a big drop from +1 to +2 I would try to get some food in her.

Way to be dramatic about it, Mouse! But yay! A green! :D

Mouse is known for her dramatic drops, and jumps. I just gave her some Young Again kibble, 8 pieces, and some freeze dried fancy feast "kibble" Will check frequently until she's in a safe zone.

I’m familiar with the dramatic drop and bounce thing too, unfortunately. I think Mouse and Asia would make fast friends. ;)

50 is safe, I know it can be a scary number, but you don’t want to overdo it if she’s surfing which it looks like she is. If she goes below 50, that’s when you need to bring her up. Surf it, Mouse!

She blew it.....45!
Her nadir time isn't close yet

Come up, Mouse!

Mouse is a long term diabetic, so you can keep this dose assuming 2 things: she is not symptomatic of hypo in the 40s and she does not go lower than 40. A helpful guideline for long term diabetics or cats that don’t hold reductions well is to keep a dose until they have gone under 50 on 3 different days or once under 40. Under 40, you can’t play and need the .25 reduction on the following dose. Assuming Mouse stays over 40 tonight, you can keep this dose going forward if you want to try that. This will give her more time to get used to blues and greens and she might like it so much she stays there a lot longer! :)

Poor girl :( I hope she comes back up for you.
She feels very warm.
I tried taking her temperature, but it only ready 98. That can't be right....

I syringed some water down her. She ate some kibble.

I can't go to bed unless she starts going up. 46 at 3am? Please, Mouse, you're supposed to be bouncing into the 300's by now, as in the past.

If she follows any pattern, it's NO pattern!

Have you tested again?

It looks like the extra carbs you fed earlier in the cycle wore off. Hope Mouse comes up for you.

Did you manage to keep the thermometer in there fore long enough?

Long enough for the beep
Each reading, I gave a few more pieces of kibble. She's not really hungry. Both cats, (her & her civvie brother), are leaving food behind, so thank goodness it's not something just with her.
I fear all this extra kibble is going to create a large bounce....later...

I hope you can get her to the vet, the greasy coat would be enough to send me in, but not eating is always a concern. Please keep us posted on Miss Mouse. Sending feel better vines her ways. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I Hope you are OK sorry I had to go out to the vet.

The kibble won't create a bounce. You will get high numbers for a while, but that's not the same as a bounce.

A bounce is a physiological response to lower than normal numbers/ fast drop, in which the liver ends up dumping glucose into the bloodstream.

Thought of you this morning when I woke up since we both had PJ parties last night, I hope you and Mouse are doing ok!

Both cats left food. In fact, they ignored the autofeeder. Both.
Her coat is better, ears are warm, not hot. I gave her two more syringes of water, got a reading of 79 at 5:30, and decided it was ok to grab some rest.
Her 7:30 reading is 237. All that HC finally kicked in. HC food never takes effect until hours later, with bounce, or it just helped to surf = not sure.

I’ve read studies that it can take 12-24 hours for food spikes to show up in cats. They sure like to keep things interesting!

I’m glad she has perked up. I would say spending all this time in green may feel funky to her at first, and I’ve seen some cats have decreased appetites when lower numbers arrive on the scene (usually because they can now make use of their food and therefore don’t need as much). The greasy coat thing is what threw me. I hope she is okay and continues to feel better.

Well done on your exhausting night, what a lovely run of greens. Hope you can get some much needed rest today.
