Mango is doing excellent! His BG's are around the 50's to 80's. I check him weekly, He is acting like a kitten now. Running around, climbing, jumping up on things again. The only thing that worries me is that he is down to 14 pounds. He started at around 16-17 pounds at the beginning of Dec. The vet always wanted him at 14 pounds but he looks so skinny! I am used to a cat that was 18 pounds! I did make a mistake and put him on dry food to make it easier for my cat sitter, for 4 days, and when I got home his BG was 256!:banghead::nailbiting: Thank goodness that it went back down to normal in a day back on the wet food. That won't happen again! I hope everyone is doing well. I will check back in soon!

If he looks too skinny, you can always feed him a higher calorie food.

However, it sounds like whatever it is your doing (except for the evil dry food) is working great!

Glad to hear Mango is doing well.............NEVER feed dry food, ever ever ever..........Davidson was 16 lbs and a big muscular cat for 12 yrs and he's down to 13 lbs now and still a big guy. Some of his weight was muscular and now that he's 16 he's not as young as he used to be (aren't we all) and slowed down a bit.........he looked skinny too but the extra pound that came off weren't needed and he's been lean ever since.............you'll get used to the "new" look and Mango will love it too!

Always happy to read Mango updates. :) I hope you’re doing well too, Leslie. :bighug:

Sounds like all is well and he just needs to fill out a bit (and stay away from the dry food). ;)

Kitten formula foods are usually higher calorie because they are growing and need it. You can look at Dr. Lisa’s food chart and find a few to try that work. Look for higher calorie and under 10% carb.

Congrats on getting a new kitten! ;)

Mango will thank you when he's older and not needing to lug around the extra weight. Rex's highest was 21 pounds. With his diabetes, I was able to put him on a diet (previously free-fed on dry) and he's now 13 pounds. He's definitely happier and much more playful.

That is a lot of weight that was lost! Mango is much more playful that is for sure! I guess I am just used to him being a fatty! Lol!

We are doing great! My son got transferred to Orlando from Texas and now my granddaughter is only 3 hours away! They are coming to visit for mother's day. We were up there for 4 days watching the baby while they moved in. It is such a beautiful place that they moved into. It is a brand new apt. complex. Lakes, docks, pool, cabanas..... It will be a great summer!

That’s really great that Mango decided to cooperate and go OTJ in time for you to be free to enjoy your family! Sounds like it will be a great mother’s day this year. :)
