What a different diabetic cat you’ve had the past 10 days! If it’s this exciting for me to see her progress, I can only imagine how much happy dancing you are doing over there! :cat:

Yep, it's amazing!! I'm so glad I've changed her food! It took a long time to figure out what was good for her and what she liked, but now I'm really happy!

But do you think she will lose eight?

Is she overweight? So long as she’s getting enough calories to maintain, she shouldn’t lose weight, it’s not about type the food, it’s about the amount of food she needs. Protein and fat are great for them, carbs make them overweight. If anything, she might gain, when their numbers are higher, they can’t properly use the food they eat anyway.

She's really not overweight, she's long and thin. She's 4.4kg! I don't want her to lose weight but she's eating almost 0 carbs, and in small quantities, so I'm wondering if it's enough for her.

But you're right, now that she doesn't have tons of sugar in her, she will probably not lose weight..

+5 and +7 at 70 :)

It's more about whether she is getting enough calories rather than the carb count. Just weigh her every week or so to make sure she isn't losing. Do you know how many calories she should be getting to maintain her weight? There is a formula to get you in the ball park. Let me know if you need it.

@Bobbie And Bubba no I don't know! I could use that, I really want her to recover from the bad year she had.
Here is the formula I use for my two guys. You can tweak it according to her activity level and age.

Use her ideal weight in the formula. ( sorry, I do pounds not kg's so you'll have to convert) If her weight is ideal now use that weight. If you want her to gain weight, use that weight in the formula.

Ideal weight X 13.5 + 70. Let's use the example for a 10 lb. cat: 10 X 13.5 =135 + 70 =205 calories a day. Then divide up those amount a calories a day for her feedings. Bubba is 18 lbs and he is getting less calories than the formula because he is very sedentary right now and he is maintaining that weight. This formula is a good starting point for you.

Unfortunately no :/ Since we switch to 100% wet food she's not getting enough. She eats 1 can (5.5oz) per day of BFF, it has only 77 calories/100g (3.5oz). So hm... I'm looking for cans that would have more calories. She won't eat more than 1 can, she's not a big eater.
