Shot full dose 1.25U

He is doing MUCH better this morning. Hungry, purry, vocal. Came to bed around 2am and slept with me/on me. He may be feeling the benefits of the AB shot - which if it is a kidney infection and not being treated with the right AB will be short lived but for now, I will take what I can get.

He ate all his fudz last night with enthusiasm and was a CBC this morning (PS).

Gave the Ondan 30 min before TFS. Not sure about the Mirtz - I will give in an hour if I give it. What I have "discovered" with the Mirtz is it works really well and then tapers effectiveness if I give too often especially when I start giving back to back. I will just come home again if I have to.

Thank you. Kathy is in the Austin area.

You know, Houston is a weird city. You would think it would be so much more advanced in its offerings, and it does in some places, but, as you said, it is huge and a lot of the "offerings" are on the south, south/west side of town. They are at least 1-1/2 hour drive away. We have mobile vets but they mostly provide vaccines and spay/neuter services. I have search and researched a bunch.

I can understand the difficulty in getting around a big city, we lived near London..... getting to the otherside of london, though not far as the crow flies, could take hours in the traffic.

Good morning , Gizmo and Lizzie :bighug: Glad to be on Team Gizmo ... ‘‘tis an honor :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: Today is a good day for great Gizmo improvement . Sending prayers to that end :)

I messaged Tena and she said she uses Dr. Addleman at Memorial Cat Hospital. Her civil, Sid, has CMD and she’s been happy with the approach but she said she wouldn’t recommend her for FD management as she is not a supporter of TR. But, you can make it clear from the get go that you don’t need help with FD management. I don’t know if that clinic is anywhere near you.

I’m glad he’s better today. More vines and hugs!

Thank you. It is 32.5 miles but "driving directions" state 55 min (and I am sure that is with no traffic). Gizmo gets sooo stressed going to the vet that I worry about him surviving the trip home every time we go. He does better if hubby goes with us and we allow him free range of the car but I couldn't do that alone

I knew it was a shot in the dark since Houston is so enormous.

Gizmo, keep eating and feeling better.

Lizzie, I just started Asia on D Mannose, might be an option to consider while you are playing antibiotic negotiation with the vets. It’s supposed to make the bacteria bind to itself instead of the bladder wall so it gets excreted before doing harm. Seems to be most effective against E. coli (which is the most typical UTI culprit anyway).

I got this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Pure-Encapsu...ment/dp/B00164PVYO/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20

It seems more concentrated than the versions mentioned in Tanya’s, so a little goes a long way. Serving is 1 scoop (comes with scoop, it’s tiny) and contains .9 of d mannose, so half a scoop is .45 and about equal to what Tanya’s recommends as 1/4 tsp/500mg.

Thank you. I have d mannose. It isn't what you have but this one.

I have actually been thinking about starting it.

How do you give it? Mixed in the food?

Yes, I just add it to her food, it’s a tiny amount and she doesn’t seem to notice. It just tastes sweet, almost like a sugar substitute. If he is picky, I’d just pick a particularly stinky food variety to add it in to, he shouldn’t notice.

He isn't usually picky unless he is off. Then it doesn't matter what is or isn't in it he just won't eat - lol.

I'll get it out of his med "suitcase" and try it this weekend. Thanks :bighug:

ETA-do you know if there is any issues using it with the phos binder (aluminium hydroxide)?

I never know, and I’m not sure there’s any definitive answers for most things, I just add p binder to everything but her food she takes with antibiotics and hope some of it gets in.

Yes, very discouraging. There is the Houston university for vets, and they are excellent, but probaly way too far from you. Also, most of these vet schools take your animal from you and will not allow you to visit - dunno' if this is true for the Houston facility.

I hope you can get the IM vet to see Gizmo sooner, perhaps as an emergency.
