Nice blue PS, it looks like a good day for a curve.

That 195 is lower than the last test you got last night, it might indicate that you are shooting a falling PS, shooting a falling PS often leads to an active cycle.
Of course there is also the possibility that he dropped a little lower in the night and that 195 is him on his way up. (one of the reasons I personally like getting a +11, it tells me what direction the numbers are heading at PS, ie are they flat/rising /falling they were often a good predictor for me on how active a cycle George might have)

Did you shoot early last night? or are you still 1 hour behind schedule?

Yes i shot at 5, was that wrong

Usually you wouldn't change the shot time by as much as an hour.
That said, because Bella was 344 @+11 (or was it +10?)(the bounce from the low was in full force), it was OK to shoot an hour early.
(could you reflect that on the ss as it may impact numbers in the next couple of cycles, so we can have it in the back of our head)
You just don't want to make a habit of shooting an hour early cycle after cycle. Shooting early can act as a dose increase (affects some cats more than others), so the insulin can get ahead of you if you shoot early.

If you need to change shot time it's best to try and do it by no more than 30min a day.

I suspect that as you only shot a drop it shouldn't really matter on this particular occasion, but just wanted you to be aware in case you need to change the shot time at some point in the future.
:)

I put it on as thanks!

I always shoot 5@ and 5p yesterday I didn’t know what to do never had that low in am so I got a little off, I try really hard to shoot at the same time everyday

That's OK, I know yesterday was a special circumstance because of the low number you got at PS, these things happen to all of us.
When we stall it throws our schedule off, I found it really disconcerting when it happened to me.

Is today curve day with TR it's 3rs day

You usually won't do formal curves on TR, you just re-assess the dose after 3-5 days using the numbers in all the spot-checks you did in the previous days to figure out how a particular dose is behaving. Though when you have the opportunity on what looks to be a typical (i.e., non-bounce) day, it can be nice to do a full curve.

Bella is looking good this morning! Not bad at all considering his surf in greens and the drop dose yesterday!

DH is doing curve told him that was the least he could do for after my panic attack he unknowingly caused yesterday evening lol

Hope Bella has a better day, and you too. I followed the condo, I didn't understand everything, but trying to learn in case we have similar event. Interesting about the meters, since I am considering a human meter to control expenses.

Almost everyone uses one and I stuck with mine, I guess when you look at the big pic, high is high and low is low, I put pet one away

As long as you've got hubby on the job, you might as well get a +7, but I think a +9 would be fine if it's inconvenient. I don't think he's going to go low enough today that you'll need it for safety reasons, this is just for more data-gathering to figure out Bella's patterns.

Ok so based on numbers so far today I keep him at same dosage right?

Yes, I think you'd stick with this dose, for two reasons. One, the TR sticky suggests holding a dose for longer if the cat is new to green numbers, and while these aren't the first greens Bella has seen, it's new enough that I think you'd want to hold the dose longer. The other factor (that I missed earlier) is that you had the "drop" dose yesterday. Usually, when you do something like that (or a furshot), we say to re-start the clock. Between the drop and the 1.5 doses just beforehand, I think it would be good to take a few more days to let the depot settle before making any more dose changes.

The good news is, that would pretty much take you to the weekend, where it's easier to make changes because you can observe more closely (at least after hubby gets out of the doghouse)!

Thanks! Will do and I will let him out today since he is testing for me lol

Here's something you might be interested in, http://www.vmdtoday.com/news/a1c-test-now-available-for-cats-and-dogs

It's New for animals “Testing for A1c in people with diabetes has been the gold standard for over a decade,” says Gustav Ray, president and CEO of Baycom Diagnostics. “ For the first time, we are offering this same test for dogs and cats in a simple, cost effective, mail-in test.” ($99)

Why A1c?
The benefit of using A1c levels over the traditional tests that employ fructosamine to manage diabetes is that A1c gives ( 6 times more data ) by providing an average blood glucose level for the previous 70 days in cats and 110 days in dogs.

You would need to copy the page & ask your Vet to order the forms. I recently asked my vet, i don't think he has them yet.

Since the test covers the last 70 days You would only need to do it once every 2-3 months.

All they need to do is put a few drops of blood on the form, let it dry & mail it back to the lab.

I'm going to ask my Vet to let me have the form & I'll get the blood & put it on the form then I'll bring it to the vet & let him mail it or maybe i can mail it back.

(I don't want to stress Ravan out putting him in the car just so the vet can put the drops of blood on the form)

Let me know what you think?

I've never had the fructosamine test done, what does the vet charge for that?

Nice blue amps.

He's flat coming into ps.
Looks like he's planning on clearing the bounce. I'd get a +1 and +2, as it's a little lower than you usually shoot. If you can't manage both then no later than a +2.

I'm off to bed, it's 11.30pm here. If you need help, edit your thread title to reflect the urgency.

He seems to be recovering nicely from the BCS.

Hi I just thought I'd check on you two. (Doing my middle of night test)

You're doing great.

When a+2 is the same or lower than ps it often indicates an active cycle.
If this were me I'd want to know how active so I'd want to get a +3 or a +4 ( whichever is best for you)
Will do thank so much for checking on us!!

This is stupid I’m sure, but active cycle is good right??

but active cycle is good right??
Active cycle means you can see the numbers go down. So, whenever the +2 is the same as the pre shot number or lower you could see the numbers continue to go down. I always loved seeing that in Bubba's cycle. Unfortunately, they were often the night cycle.

@Bobbie And Bubba or anyone
Do you think if he’s at this low number in the am to shoot, I have to work

A lot can happen between now and the AMBG. With deciding to shoot, the lowest at this dose was 135, tonight's pre shot and tomorrow the depot should be about full. If he is lower than today's pre shot, stall with out feeding and retest. If he is over 150, I would shoot and get the +2 before you leave for work and that should tell you what type of carb food to leave for him. Gill and George should be around when you shoot as she is in Spain and is 5 hours ahead of EST. If you need help, tag her. I will be on around 6 AM EST.

Should I get a +6

I'll be around at your shot time.
Tag me so I don't miss you if you need help.

Looks like he is heading back up though so lets see what his AMPS is.

BTW great job getting those tests in.
