Good morning, Carla:bighug:
Wow for Furball’s bg this morning. Vines for steady numbers today.

And vines for Simba both for appetite and for comfort. ❤️:bighug:❤️

@HWright Simba did not each much more last night. I think her mouth is bothering her too much to eat food. She's not eating the pill pocket any more. I have been putting the Arnica in water and giving it to her in milk over the weekend.

Has she been ok with/also taken in the other remedies in their sequence?

I feel your worry about her not eating as much as she should. I have some Royal Canin Recovery (it’s like hill’s a/d but a smoother consistency than the a/d). And since it sounds as if she’s licking food more than eating it, it blends well with water and or other liquids (milk, water, broth, etc). If you think it’d help to have some on hand, I’m glad to send you some today for Simba to try.

Woke up thinking ab you and Simba, Carla :bighug: Sending prayers for Simba to be able to eat and you to have a peaceful heart . My HV has always told me that often the remedies can seem to make situation worse right before their body responds and improvement is seen . Many hugs and healing peacefilled prayers , that you can talk to HV today :bighug::bighug:

Vines for Simba. Last entries on ss I see are the 19th, is that right? I know my ss is acting up, the colors are disappearing.

I have to call the HV vet back. The doctor is not in yet.

I'm hoping that is what it is.

I'm behind on updating the SS. Very busy weekend.

Yes, Carla, you are going above and beyond for your dear Simba :bighug: Sending prayers that her body rallies and responds to remedies and that you have increasing peace and comfort :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Furball is looking good! I hope she surfs safely today. :)

Poor Simba, I really hope the new remedy helps her to feel better. Would she maybe eat (drink?) a liver shake? Just thinking, it's nutritious, and might be easier on her poor mouth than trying to eat food with more density. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I don't have a real blender. I have a little one that makes a one cup smoothie. I don't know if that will work for a liver shake.

Small blender will be fine. I think the recipe yields about 2 cups; just 1/2 the amounts called for in the ingredients. Hard to halve a whole egg yolk, but I think whatever amount gets in there is what is meant to be for Simba. If you don’t want to use raw egg yolk, ok to add cooked egg yolk. Just be sure to leave out raw egg white. If you have egg yolk powder on hand, that’s a good substitute.

Azalea liked it with carrot juice; I think Lizzie in Texas made it with plain tomato juice and she said Gizmo liked it.

At the moment my hunch is go with chicken liver for Simba or if that’s not available, beef liver, either frozen or fresh, whatever you can get locally.

Input pls? , @Squalliesmom @LizzieInTexas @Bobbie And Bubba
@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) ?

Here’s the recipe:

Of course she waits until Monday to get to the good stuff!

I hope what the HV is sending helps. I hope it comes fast. I would try the one cup smoothie blender for the liver shake, you may have to portion it out and blend up small amounts at a time, but it’s worth a try and might give her a little more energy. More vines for sweet Simba. Can you up her pain meds any? What does your vet say about that? If she doesn’t feel the pain as much, she might be more inclined to eat a bit more.

The bupe is compounded into a transdermal gel. I can't change the amount I give. There are three doses in a syringe. It's measured for me. I'm not sure if the strength of the bupe can be increased or not, but it would take several days to get it if that can be done. I'd have to call the vet and wait for an answer. They'd have to call the prescription in to the compunding pharmacy and they'd have to order the supplies to make it. It's a good idea, but not an easy fix since I have to do the transdermal. I wish I could give Simba meds by mouth. Thanks for trying to come up with something to help her. :bighug:

I gave Simba some homeopathic meds and it seems to have helped her mouth. She begged for the milk I was mixing the cell salts in and drank all of it. Then she ate most of the canned food I put out for a snack. I'll look at the recipe for the liver shake, but it sounds like she doesn't need it tonight.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your suggestions and support.

I looked at the recipe and have some questions.

What part of the store do you buy liver in?
How do you get an egg yolk out of a raw egg and not get the white?
How do you measure cc's?

Thanks.

Maybe you could give one dose in one ear and some in the other, you'd have to run it by your vet, I don't quite know how the transdermal works. Also, bupe can be injected, maybe they could predraw a few insulin syringes of it for you, I know they are super weird about controlled substances, but given the circumstances and the cancer is in her mouth, I would hope they would be accommodating.

So glad she ate just now :bighug:

No. I asked when she was first diagnosed. If I take her in to get a shot it is $40 and it only lasts 24 hours.

I've never made the liver shake myself but, people eat chicken livers, sometimes they come in a tub like a big margarine tub, other times they come by the packaged meats in styrofoam. Ask the grocery store butcher if you don't see any out.

To get the yolk only, crack the egg and separate the two halves, keeping upright so the yolk won't spill out, then you gently pour the yolk form one half the egg shell in to the other over a bowl, the white runs out and you have the yolk left, which you can cook.

CC's are units of measurement in syringes, I'm assuming they mean an oral feeding syringe.

That's terrible they won't give you shots to give at home. :(

Yep yep and yep re Stacy’s @Stacy & Asia above. ❤️

P.S. sometimes liver, beef, calf and chicken livers can be found in freezer section. Though at the supermarket I go to I always seem to have to ask the butcher bc they change freezer sections. :banghead:

Hi Carla, So sorry to hear that Simba's mouth is not comfortable. But it's good that she ate today. I've never made the Liver Shake, but it looks simple enough. If you don't want to pour the yolk from one side of the shell to the other in order to separate it from the white, you can buy an egg separator anywhere kitchen utensils are sold. They are very inexpensive. You put the egg separator on top of a glass, crack the egg shell and pour the inside onto the separator. It does the work for you: the white falls into the glass and the yolk stays in the separator. (Don't crack the shell so hard that you inadvertently break the yolk!)

No more bouncing, dear Furball.

Lots of vines for Simba.

Thanks Ella. That sounds a whole lot easier. I'm not very good at cracking eggs.
