[Stella and Ciara]

I am Stella and my beautiful little cat Ciara has just been diagnosed with diabetes i am very upset like i expect everyone is to get this diagnoses
I have so far managed to give her three injections with the vet pen and hope i am getting it into her correctly
She is very good but is thin
I am a bit shocked that the dry food i had to get from the vets cost 20 pound
What food do other people use?
Any advice appreciated to keep costs down

Hi Stella, welcome to you and sweet Ciara! Yes it’s scary and overwhelming at first, but it will get easier. We have lots of tips and tricks to help you to help Ciara and save money at the same time. Come to the Main Health forum and tell us more about Ciara. Include what insulin, what you’re feeding, if you’re home testing and if there are any other heath problems. Also include what country you’re in so we can give you the best info on food and supplies.

The perscription food is not necessary. A low carb wet food is best... Most of us feed fancy feast classic or Friskies pate foods.

I have now just ordered some applaws pate as that seems like a good option here in the UK

Yay! Pretty shiny black coat. Who is that in the background?

She has got a very nasty sore on her poor nose and the vet thinks it is cancer so I am praying that she is wrong, she is a beautiful cat
Puddy is in the background he is 16 and well thank God
I have also got Bosco who is 5 now and well and healthy too

That coat went very unshiny and not nice for awhile but looking better today thank God
