For the last week, my Relion BG meter has been giving very high readings, many days just saying "Hi" rather than registering a number and has been 100 points or more higher than my Alpha Trak readings taken at the same time. This morning AT read 450, Relion 595! Since this is unusual and contrary to established norms, I'm wondering if the Relion needs to be returned/exchanged as defective. Anyone else had this happen?

i believe there is usually about a 20% different, here is the difference I’ve gotten

So I posted above basically same question. I know numbers don’t matter but would the Advocate be more accurate since it’s calibrated to pet?
A lot of people use pet meters as the strips are so much cheaper, I’ve been told if I remember right that high is high on either low and take immediate action on pet meters is below 68 and on human meter is below 50, the only reason why I have both is because i didn’t know I could use human and when i came on here found out human was ok I switched because I was going through ALOT of strips testing and my strips were 48.00 for 50 and the human strips were 18.00 for 100 they both are real close

So,to,answer your question I’m sure the pet is more accurate to the vets but again remember you really only need to know that high is high on either and low on either is by the numbers above.

Thank you...I needed to know that low for pt monitor. I found an eBay site where the strips aren’t too bad- I’ll let you know if they’re good. They have good reviews so I’ll give them a try. Last night she was at 500 so I was a little freaked but I had obviously given a fur shot that morning.
I like being closer to my vets numbers and just myself would prefer a pet calibrated one since composition of blood is different than humans :) ....just me.

It’s financially better for me with the human strips, I now as of 2 weeks ago have a hyperthyroid cat and her meds aren’t cheap, she can’t take the pills of course lol her has to be made into a gel

Are you sure you have entered the right code for the AT meter??
How long has the AT strips been open?
Are the AT strips expired? Have they been exposed to high temps? Has the vial also been capped when not open to remove a strip?

No codes for AT meter-opened yesterday-not expired-no high temps-yes capped lol. Reviews on the model of ReLion I got were ok until I went to App Store to get app that goes with it. Bad bad bad. And inaccuracy was some of them.
