Need advise - started new vile this morning and it looks like the higher numbers could have been insulin loosing its potency - what do I do with the dose?? I go back to work tomorrow.. eek :nailbiting::eek:

Do I take it back down to 0.75U tonight?

ETA - I tested twice - +4=128, 125

Why don't you wait and see what tonight's number looks like and decide. If he just flattens out and surfs into the PMPS, I would be inclined to just stay with the .75 dose and let the Lantus do it "flat curve" magic . See what others think.

ETA: But, he could start a bounce.

stay with the .75 dose
He is at 1.0U. Given his dose history I assumed the new food was a bit higher carb but pen was almost empty and had a big air bubble so thought I would go ahead and start the new vile just to see.

He was hitting greens @ 0.25U but eating different food and less quantity.

I don’t think it was the vile but rather the depot is catching up and he’s working the increase. Enjoy your day off and give your boy extra scritches for me.

Labs are back!! Great news!! Bun down to 62 (from 70). Crea down to 2.1 (from 3.4). Potassium 3.6 (up from 3.2 - still needs to come up), Phos "normal" - I don't remember the number and don't have the email yet. HCT 25 (going to just keep an eye on it for now/not restarting Epogen). WBC normal.

Spec Gravity 1.022 (up from last urinalysis 1.019).

Doin' the happy dance!!

I just couldn't hold the dose. I can't and leave him for 10 hours tomorrow with no way to monitor. Maybe I am wrong but better safe than sorry. I will go back up if necessary but had to go with my gut. :bighug:
I always go with my gut! Just wondering why you didn't just take him back to .75?

Because I am a big scardy cat. No, really, there is a bunch of $#!+ hitting the fan at work and there is no way I can take any unscheduled time (today had been on the calendar for over a month). And he was seeing greens at 0.25U. I have to know he is safe. If it had been Thursday (vs Monday) I probably would have gone to 0.75U.

You have to be comfortable with it; that is always the bottom line.

Through Thursday AM will be 6 cycles. If necessary I can increase Thursday PM and will be able to see what happens over the weekend.

ETA-if not for the new vile factor I probably would have held the dose.

I completely understand the reducing because of work. Most of the time my husband and I work different schedules, but on the few days we are both gone all day, I’m a nervous wreck. I would have done the same thing you did. You can always increase again. Better safe than sorry. I’m so glad the labs came back good! That’s such good news and a relief.

Labs -->> here

SS also updated.
Did the labs not include a calcium or did you accidentally overlook it?

Wow on the creatinine! That’s great. There are gains and a few minor setbacks. The potassium is looking better :):):), phosphorus needs to get back down. The P is not normal...it is way too high. It needs to be down around 4.5. More work to do on that. Remember that the normal range on P includes kittens who have higher P levels as they are growing bone.

The thing that concerns me the most is losing ground on the hematocrit. I’m assuming he has been off the ESAs since his HCT went up from 19%. I do think it’s prudent to watch it and see what it does.
