Good Afternoon L& L ~

Bubba is trying to level out since his return to better numbers. Last night was an all green cycle and it looks like this AM a bit of a bounce. He is so happy we are home and hangs with us more than usual.

Vines to all Beans and Kitties in needs and sad for Janet and Bella.

OT: We are in the thick of a nor'easter and it's started snowing early this AM and is continuing until 6ish tonight. Expecting 9 -12 inches.

What a contrast from Texas a few days ago. Photo is out my family room window towards our barn. In front of the bushes in the foreground is a buried teak bench and chair.

That is the storm that hit central and southern MN/WI, but missed us in northern MN/WI by mere miles!! I was so happy because we had just gotten 2 feet of snow 2 weeks ago.

I'm happy to hear Bubba is quickly getting back into green numbers for you. :D

I missed the last nor'easter while I was in TX. So happy about that.

Yikes, you all got a lot of snow! It was only slushy here.

Happy to hear that Bubs is hanging out with you :D How was TX?
Rae, it was amazing! San Antonio is a very fun place with lots of 5 star restaurants. A wealthy philanthropist a while back took old brewery and turned it into culinary school to bring more chefs to the area. Every meal we ate was amazing!

We loved the Riverwalk and did a lot of walking everyday. We went to the Buck Horn museum which was dedicated to the Rangers and it was the history of Texas. Very interesting. We also went to a glass studio and watched them blow some glass. I collect glass balls from wherever we travel that has local glass blowers.

We parked our car at the B & B which was downtown in the Historic King Williams section and never got into our car again until we traveled to the Frederickburg and surrounding towns in the Hill Country. There we hiked Enchanted Rock, toured an Olive vineyard, a wine vineyard and went to the Pacific War Museum. Lot of German immigrants there with German influence. And of course we shopped a little bit enough to bring back some neat things for my grandchildren.

Loved our visit and need to go back as we were overly ambitious as to what we thought we could do. So far Texas rates right up with Tennessee as my two favorite states.

Quite a bit, see post #9. We loved it!
Oh, and I forgot, we did have a drink at the Menger Hotel and talked to the Bartenders about one of the many ghosts there. And we tried to do Hamilton Lake but we missed the morning session ( reservations only ) and would have to wait 2 hours so we went on to an olive vineyard and was there for about 3 hours touring the vineyard and mill and eating at their bistro.

Awesome! Lots that I want to do too. Pacific War Museum & Enchanted Rock.

My Grandma (way back) owned the property where the San Antonio post office is currently. The city wanted it so (how ever it happened) traded her some property in Frio county (1000+ acres) including all mineral rights. I am still receiving royalty checks from the oil and gas they are pulling from the land. :)

What a great legacy! I hope you continue to receive the royalties for the rest of your life!

Do go to Enchanted Rock, very beautiful pink granite. You can get to the top in about an hour, and do the whole loop trail around it in about 3 hours.

The Pacific War Museum was amazing and we didn't see everything obviously. There are 3 areas you can see on one ticket and they give you 48 hours to do it. We went two consecutive days and still didn't see it all. The memorial wall was overwhelming and only a drop in the bucket compared to the Viet Nam memorial. My dad served in the Pacific which is probably why it overwhelmed me. Admiral Nimitz home town was Fredericksburg and the museum is in the Hotel that his paternal grandfather started as one of the 102 immigrants that came to Fredericksburg from Germany. One of the 5 submarines that were to strike Pearl Harbor is in that museum as the US struck it and sank it and it washed ashore. There was quite a fight over where the sub would end up. Really great museum.

Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation. One of my nieces lives in SA. I should visit her sometime!
Your snow is beautiful to look at, but I'll bet you are not having fun getting around. So far the storm hasn't had any impact this far north, but it may appear tonight and tomorrow.
Bubba, lookin' good!

That is beautiful, I too have snow envy, send me some! :p

Sounds like a very fun and much needed getaway! :) I went to Texas, once, for a wedding in Houston, I did not like Houston. A good friend of mine moved to Austin and loves it there.

Admiral Nimitz was an amazing man. I love history.

This is a great book

I want to go to the WWII museum in New Orleans too. FD derailed a lot of plans :)
Yes, he was an amazing man! He was outraged that the marines weren't going to be a part of the post war ceremonies ( remember Iwo Jima) and that's when he stole my heart. ;)

DH is the history buff. I'm learning to enjoy it more and more.

I'll try and get the audio book for DH. He'll love it.

Happy that Bubba returned to nice numbers so quickly!
We got about 4 inches of snow last night but a lot of it seemed to melt today. It's snowing now but hopefully we won't get too much overnight.
