Fructosamine. What does it mean?

My boy Levon recently had a fructosamine level of 825. His BG levels are usually in the yellow/purple level, but this latest Fructosamine test is a) much higher than his last one, and b) showing, maybe, a very poorly controlled cat. What could cause this very high reading?

Fructosamine tests give an indication of the average BG level over the preceding few weeks. It's related to the level of BG control. You only have mid cycle data on your spreadsheet so it's hard to know what's going on. You might be giving a dose that's too high for the BG level causing him to rebound into high numbers or he might need a higher dose. You've said he's very difficult to test, that it takes two people and he has to be restrained. You might put up a different thread asking for advice to help with the testing issue. More data will help you to know what to do to improve his BG control.
 
Levon eats three times a day. I only test him once, and that is right before his second meal (3 PM.) He gets his shots with his first and third meal (9AM and 9 PM.) Can I somehow show on his spreadsheet when he eats? There is a day in there when he ate his food late, so testing him at our usual time was way off. What would be considered mid-cycle in this schedule?

As for advice about testing, we've watched way too many YouTube videos of kitties getting their ears poked. It's taken us a while to get to a system that is at least possible. Even trimming his nails is an ordeal. My job has me trimming nails frequently (and teaching it), as well as observing many different types of blood draws. I've learned from this that my kitty is indeed difficult.

Recently we had a group of white cats in the shelter. I remember sitting in a room with them, showing them to a family, all the while I was staring at those lovely red veins in their ears, jealously thinking how easy it would be to poke them. :)

I was just thinking of this the other day! I'm lucky enough to have a white cat (Zander, in my profile pic) and his ear veins are so easy to see because he is all pink and white :) I feel sort of blessed because all my other cats are dark and finding their ear veins would be so tricky! :)
