Good Morning, L&LL,

Rusty had a good night. He ate all his fuds, and his breathing was OK by the time we got to bed (had been noisy earlier in the evening; I think he inhaled some food). This morning he was waiting on the table for his breakfast (ate some and then just wanted to sit in my lap).

Another damp, chilly, dreary day with snow flurries and freezing rain to start. It's supposed to get better later. Edward and I have to go to check the condition of the trail for Monday's hike/ picnic lunch. Yes, a picnic lunch cook-out in February, one of our group's traditions. We ski in, roast hot dogs at a lean-to by a pond and then ski back (about 5 miles round trip). This year I doubt than anybody will attempt to ski because the snow is not good. But we'll snowshoe or walk wearing microspikes. We'll have a better idea after we test the trail today.

Everyone have a good weekend,

I'm so happy to hear Rusty recovered from his food inhalation with no adverse affects (anti-jinx). Keep eating, LagoonMeister!

Good luck with the scouting expedition today. I hope your planned hike/ski turns out well, whatever kind of footwear you end up in!

But we are in Seattle, no snow here last night.
Visiting, I assume? Surely you didn't move from Flagstaff?

Enjoy your hot dots.:p
I just caught that, too! Love it!

Thanks for all the vines, guys. Rusty did well all day. The beans had an interesting snowshoe in to the pond. About 8 inches of crusty, heavy snow to plow through on snowshoes (breaking through often). We brought in some firewood. There were ski tracks from a few days ago and these had hardened. But I don't think I'm a good enough skier to do this trip as a ski, and Edward doesn't ski. There was a lot of forest debris on the trail. It looks like some people will ski and others snowshoe. Tomorrow's weather may settle the question: rain/ sleet/ snow all day and unseasonably mild.
We are planning a February surprise for the participants: Klondike ice cream bars! Hope it will be cold enough to keep them from melting in my pack.
