I'm working on changing that link. Not having much luck. Every time I open up ss in Google drive it seems data is missing. My user name I can not change for 80 days. I don't see why it has to be that long. But it is what it is.
 
@Marje and Gracie Can you please look at Olive's aka Love labs? It's her first ever labs. I was told the liver values will need to be monitored but the other abnormals are because of the unregulated diabetes, since we don't know how long she was diabetic or how long she was out on the streets fending for herself. The cardiopet test hasn't come back yet. Vet said the precision pls is high because of the pancreatitis and that test always seems to run high. No p'titis symptoms. Tomorrow will be dosecrease.

Thank you for any insight you can offer. We are all still adjusting, but I hope we start seeing some movement soon.
 
I'm not a lab expert but would be concerned about the high liver values specifically the ALK and the pancreatitis. Wonder if they are elevated because she wasn't getting enough food while on the streets causing fatty liver. Did they give you any insight? I have no idea how long it would take to turn that around. IMO I'd feed her as often and as much food as she wants. @Carol & Murphy has experience with fatty liver if that's what's going on. Of course I'm no expert in reading labs. Marje might be out of pocket but sure she'll take a look when she can. Maybe send a PM in case she's not checking the board.

Glad you're increasing. Honestly I'd increase every 6 cycles until you see some blue and then slow it down. It can be hard to get her out of those high numbers if the dose is held to long. I realize you're conservative, as I typically am but she's just too high. Hopefully you get the cardiopet results in today and it is normal.

OT: Moo's U/S showed she has a liver shunt. No idea if she was born like that or it recently developed but her liver values are still normal. Basically her blood supply/ vein is bypassing her liver and there is no treatment. All they said is "watch for changes" in fur and behavior...what ever the heck that means :rolleyes:
 
Hi Paula - I have been wondering how things were working out - I went back and read all your condos. Olive could have fatty liver before she was rescued, and if so, she's definitely getting the right the treatment now (lots of calories)
When Murphy had hepatic lipidosis, I was actually working in Kazakhstan, 12 time zones away, and had to communicate with the vet where he was hospitalized in the middle of the night, local time for me. So I can't remember how high his liver enzymes went, but it took awhile for his liver functions to return to normal. He was put on denamarin (like milk thistle) for liver support
The elevated LFTs could be from diabetes, I suppose, or from a form of inflammatory bowel disease. Is her abdomen still hard?
I also wonder about those low lymphocytes. The most important thing is to look for trends - I would push hard for these labs to be repeated within a month (one of your upcoming vet visits)?

Is Moos' an implanted shunt? Or a naturally made bypass?
 
@Carol & Murphy. Abdomen is not as hard now but when you pick her up its all you feel. It's like all the weight is in her abdomen. I'm going to increase her food. I didn't want her sick from gorging but i think we are past that now. I have already increased the 4 main feedings.
 
Forgot to mention elevated BUN - since her Creatinine is normal, this is likely due to some dehydration (probably from high blood sugars) - push more water in the wet food.
@Doodles & Karen - I'm so sorry to hear about Moo-I hope she stays healthy for many many years. :bighug:

Laurie had baby Jake today. Both doing well.

Vet has a bunch that whoever owned Olive just put her out when she got sick. We will never know. Vet thinks once we get glucose better, the labs should improve. Olive could have went a few days without eating until she figured out how to hunt and forge for food and fatty liver could have started.

By tomorrow her food intake will be doubled. I didn't want her to gorge and get sick so I have increased food one meal a day. So far up to 12 oz for each cycle (24 oz per day).
 
Great news on the cardio test! That's so nice not to have to worry about that.

Like Karen, I'd encourage you to increase now. She's seeing nothing but pinks and a move to 2.0 would be fine with the amount of testing you are doing.

I am increasingly tomorrow morning. Laurie is Olive's foster mom who found her in the dumpster. Don't know if you knew that.

Great to hear!! I'm glad you have stayed in touch with her!! She was such an awesome foster mom to take Love in when she was so pregnant and then dive right in when we suggested she go ahead and start on insulin!

Jake's a lucky little boy....A big sister and a mom that obviously knows what's important!

Bobbie, she is a great eater. There is no filling her up at this point. She is eating 6 3oz cans a day (q 3 hrs) and gets cooked chicken in between some of them. Being dumped when dx is so common. Like Apricot, her adopters knew she was diabetic but dumped in the street because the resident cats were picking on her. They could have returned her but no. So many are bought in to pts because owners do not want to treat illnesses. Sadly it happens all the time.
