Summer has never ever been this low. I just gave her some of her raw diet and was going to see if that will bring her up but it didnt! I have the ff gravy lovers. A teaspoon will be enough?? And does this mean Summer earns a reduction? She is on 13 units and being she is high dose, i have been increasing 1 whole unit. Will i decrease 1 whole unit as well??

Yes, she's earned a reduction

I'm not sure about how much since I don't have a lot of experience with high dose cats.

Hopefully @Wendy&Neko will pop in.

If not, I'd reduce the full unit....you can always go up again if she doesn't hold the reduction....maybe by only .5 instead of a full unit (if you end up increasing again)

I did a few drops of honey on gums and she licked it as well. I gave her a teaspoon of gravy too. I tested in 20 mins and she only came up 3 points. She was 39 and i checked in 20 mins and she was 42. Fixing to check again.

If she only came up to 42, give another couple teaspoons of the "Gravy" part of the Gravy Lovers and test again in 20-30 minutes

You want to keep feeding/testing every 20-30 minutes until she's at least above 50....then you'll still want to continue testing at least 2 more hours

Any time they drop below 50, you want to feed HC or Karo/honey/syrup until they're above 50 again and then you continue testing ..every 30 minutes for the first hour and then 1 more test an hour later.....IF she drops below 50 again during that time, that 2 hour "clock" starts over again.

You test for 2 hours from the last time you have to intervene with HC or sugars to make sure they don't drop back down again

Was it ok to give the honey and the gravy at same time?

Yes, it's OK....no harm done!! Those 30's are nothing to play with!!

I usually will just give a couple teaspoons of the gravy....most of the carbs are in the gravy so I pop the top, put it back down and "squeeze" the gravy into another bowl and then spoon it out as needed. (you can get quite a bit of gravy out of one can if you squeeze hard enough...it's messy but it works!)

I think i will reduce her 1 whole unit. I will give her 12 units in morning.

Congratulations on the reduction!!!

Now if they'd just earn them during the day instead of in the middle of the night!!!!

I can't stay to monitor since it's going on 2am here and I need to be out in the morning, so remember to keep testing at least 3 more times to make sure she stays up before you relax.

Welcome to your first PJ party!! :coffee::coffee::coffee:

Ok she was just 57. So i hold off on the food and honey now and just continue to test in 30 mins and then another 30 and then and 1 hour later after the last 30?

Thank you Chris so very much!!!!! :D:coffee: :bighug:

Hi Debra, you might want to feed Summer some of her regular food as well. The gravy and sugar will get her numbers up fast, but they can come back down when the sugar wears off. Don't feed her too much as you don't want her to be full.
