Please note the user name change. Formerly scs islander. @Djamila had asked my name some time ago and in going through previous posts today I saw it. Thought best way was to just change the username.

On another note: Thank you to @StephG for the assistance and moral support today from thousands of miles away and many time zones. And @Kris & Teasel and @Djamila for their continued caring assistance.
 
Hi Greg,
No surprise about that red but you're seeing more pronounced responses more often. That can be a sign that you're near an effective dose range. There can be a lot of back and forth within a narrow range and a bouncy cat will always reward you with lovely pinks and reds after a dip into lower numbers. I know only too well how frustrating that is. :)

Hi - Yes unfortunately she found the trampoline again. Just hope the bouncing will settle down in the not too distant future.

Frustrating to say the least but I am hoping to find the right combination to ease the bouncing to some extent. I'm also hoping I am nearing the dose range now and can start the back and forth with small increases/decreases with the desired effect. Gosh but she is bouncy!

I think we talked about it early in your journey and it was just too much of a complication at that point, but Goma may be a good candidate for Levemir at some point (or Lantus if it's easier to get there). They are both human insulins, so likely available, but I don't know if there is a vet in your area that you could convince to prescribe it. In some countries they are over the counter, though of course not here in the US, and I have no idea in Japan. Both of those insulin types have a longer cycle and a flatter curve. Levemir often has nadir and PS at around the same time. It can be tricky to get used to the dosing since it's different than Prozinc, but it has been quite effective to very sensitive kitties, and particularly for kitties that spend a lot of time in very high numbers.

If you look at Teasel's spreadsheet you can see the improvement over time as he went from Prozinc to Lantus to Levemir.

Goma does seem to be making some progress right now, so I'm not suggesting that you switch tomorrow, but just wanted to mention it as something to keep in mind as you go forward, and maybe do some reading over in that forum to see what you think about it.

Thanks for pointing out other options. I do appreciate it. I'll start doing my homework to ascertain if I can get this readily here and from which vet. I am searching for a new vet at the present time and would prefer not going back to the other one if I don't need to. I'll most certainly take your advice and start reading the other forum to get an idea of what to expect should the time come I decide to change. From what you describe it does appear promising. I do want to give Goma a chance with this as she did go a long period of time with no treatment at all. Moreover as we've seen, it appears to take a longer number of cycles in her case for the dose to really take hold. I think I may have been remiss in not noticing that.

Thank you again and I hope all remains well for you, Sam and Atticus. How is Sam doing at present? At some point I'll start introducing all the civvies I have around here. Just need to get better organized - And regular sleep wouldn't hurt either...
 
Not remiss at all. It takes a pattern to repeat a few times before we can call it a pattern, so it's just now becoming apparent that she needs a little longer with dose changes. Plus, as soon as we think we've found a pattern they change it on us anyway ;)

Sam is a little under the weather tonight. He has pancreatitis and it waxes and wanes with unfortunate frequency. Atticus is being an excellent caregiver though and has hovered over him all day, sitting next to him, or curled around him constantly. We'd love to meet your civvies! Though of course after you've had a chance to catch up on your sleep!
