2/13 condo

Good afternoon, L&LL,

Sorry not to write Rusty's condo yesterday. It was a very difficult day for him and we are worried. I gave him his second application of the transdermal pred yesterday morning and he got progressively worse all day, so that by the evening he could hardly walk, let alone hop up on the table or the couch. But he had good appetite. I remembered Judy (@Judy and Boomer) saying that her civvie Allen got very weak after beginning pred, so 8 hours into the application I wiped his ear so that hopefully no more could be absorbed.

At bedtime Edward carried him upstairs so that he could be with us, but he only stayed for 15 minutes or so and then tried to go downstairs by himself; he fell down the stairs halfway down, but then went to his little bed by the radiator. So we took his nighttime fuds and put them next to his bed. We had a sleepless night. I have read that animals have an instinct to be alone when they are about to die, and that is what I was thinking all night. But this morning he was meowing and walking around (unsteadily). He still has good appetite and his breathing is not bad. I made a vet appointment for tomorrow morning. I want the vet to evaluate him, and if it seems as if he does not have a good chance to get better, we will make the decision then. Edward wonders if he might have had a stroke. He has spent a lot of his "walking" time today wandering around the living room, dining room and kitchen.

Anyway, we hope for an improvement, but we are aware that we may not have much more time with our boy. We don't know how old he is, but we think he must be at least 18. Please send vines and keep Rusty in your prayers. We want to do the right thing for him. He is such a wonderful kitty and we don't want him to suffer.

Massive vines on their way to you and the gentleman Mr. Rusty. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: What a scary day. I hope the vet has some answers.

Pred can weaken muscles. Theo got a permanent limp due to it.

So many vines and prayers for all of you. I do wonder if the pred is a problem for him, since you saw something similar when you tried it before. He is one lucky kitty to have you by his side :bighug::bighug::bighug:.

First, HUGS AND HUGS and hugs...

Second, more hugs....

Yo Rusty! Yeah life finally gets to us old men...but what a life we live! We have the bestest hoomans taking care of us, giving us what we need, doing everything to keep us happy and healthy for a long time. Even when the angels begin drawing nearer, they still love us enough. I'm grateful for that and I know you - you are too. My kidneys are about gone, I have angels near too. Here, share my cane and my shoulder...s/Dakota

...and more hugs...

My first thought was the same as Amy, it seems he had a turn for the worse last time with the pred, I hope that's all is going on and he can bounce back from it. So many vines to Rusty for healing and comfort. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sending bushelsful of vines and hugs for you all and for Rusty. I know far too well the worry concern and vigilance you are in.
Just a thought for Rusty’s vet visit tomorrow: Is there a possibility that his electrolytes are off or potassium balance low?

And of course I will mention bc you’re the one who saved the day many a time by suggesting: liver shake. Seriously.

Hugs, love, ❤️ and multitudes of scritches,
Sina and Sootie’s Tribe.

I've loaded up every single vine I can find on a charter jet, and Boris and Natasha are out looking for more. We are all praying very hard for our Rusty to overcome this latest obstacle. He's such a strong, resilient kitty, we just know he can do it.

Sending all our love and prayers to the three of you. Please keep us posted.

Yo, Rusty. You're such a cool cat, and I hope you get feeline better really fast. My momma and I have lots of vines for you. Would you like them sauteed in coconut oil and sprinkled with parmesan so they're nice and crunchy?
Purrs,
Felix

Thanks to everyone for the vines and prayers. Rusty is eating his nighttime fuds at present, but I doubt that he will try to climb the stairs. He is very unsteady. But his appetite is good and his breathing is OK. I so hope he can rally tonight. He spent most of the evening in his little bed next to the radiator. We are leaving the heat turned up for him. Our vetty appt. is for 8:15 A.M. (Eastern time). 'Night, all.

Yo, I'm checkin' out the shark nets tonight. Surf safe, kitties!

Sending a ton of vines, white light, and snowflakes for Rusty. I hope he will rally and do better but I know your great love for him will light the way for you to decide what is best.
