today i noticed my Tux constantly going to food bowls since about an hr after his injection and he seem a bit too restless as well. he had a slightly higher than normal BG this morning (still under 200) so at first i thought maybe why he is eating more because of that but, i decided to check his BG early even though it was only 2hrs after injection. his BG was 60 and retest 67 (with FS strips that currently average 5 off AT results), retested again 15mins later with AT strip and it was 72.. Got BG up to 84-F with cleanprotein fry food but, he is still eating the wetfood in bowls like he hasn't eating in days.. New to such low numbers, so wondering if constantly eating is a normal occurrence when their BG drops too fast or get close-to-hypo levels?? tried to look it up but, all i find is for high BG overeating..

I found with Jones if he was dropping fast or into "new " low numbers he ate like crazy. It is usually my first visual clue something is up.

thanks, glad to hear this, it definitely will be helpful for me in future to catch extra low numbers again before it is too late if this is a normal occurrence..

Squallie will invariably start looking for more food if he is dropping too low. When he starts begging and scrounging, I know it's time to test him!

That's his body's natural response to dropping or low BG - it tells him to find food to fix it. It's nice when you know they'll eat when they need to bring up numbers - makes it less likely to struggle raising it.

HUGS! Good catch!
didn't know that, what amazing little bodies they have!
thank you for the virtual hug, i am so thankful i did catch it in time..
