Good Morning L & L ~

Bummer blue after yesterday's' lowest AMPS this year and a 59 nadir. :banghead: I don't get it. He just can't give me 7 days of greens together so I can start reducing him.

Usually at the +8 I give him 1/2 tbsp. of YA dry so I don't have to handle raw food in the middle of the night and/or leave raw sit for 4 hours. I think tonight I will try raw and see if it makes a difference since dry takes longer to clear the system than wet.

Vines to all Beans and Kitties in need.

OT: And Happy Super Bowl Sunday to all the sports fans. Our team is in the Super Bowl. ;) Of course I will only be watching to see Pink sing ( she is from here) and to see the commercials and Justin Timberlake at half time. ( and eat nachos)

You have to wait 7 days on green before a reduction?

Good morning!

Get on back to that green now, Bubba, ok? :D

I hope that the raw foods gets Bubs into the green tonight!

Pink & Justin Timberlake are performing?! o_O Ok now I have to watch. I did not know that!

Bubba, hope you’ll eat your snacks and find the greens again so your Mama Bean can do your reducies....Spring is coming!
Yours in solidarity,
Civie Azalea

Being in all green numbers is another way to earn a reduction. For instance, Bubba isn't going under 50 ( he would have to go under 3 times on 3 different days because of being a long term diabetic) or he could get a reduction if he went under 40 one time. That isn't happening so another way is to be in all green number for 7 days.

One the other hand, knowing the variance/precision of the meters we are using... Sometimes it feels strange to be so "rigid" about our cutoff numbers, when if you were using another meter, the numbers might easily be off by 10 or more.

True, but we have to have some sort of guidelines and I believe if I were using the Free Style meter his numbers would be even higher from a comparison I did in his earlier diabetic days ( my mom uses the Free Style) But, I stick to the Relion for consistency and using the protocol as a guideline and "know thy cat" into consideration too. Bubba just gave a huge deposit in the box so I am feeling a bit better about this AM number. :) And that said, wish he'd stop messing with me!

Mango and Bubba love giving us trouble!

Hah, cats know how to keep us on our toes!! Relax with him on the couch if you get a chance today, experiment to see if that might help to bring him back in the green! When Dante's numbers get too high, I make the time to let him fall asleep with me on the couch. The kid usually falls asleep within 20-30 minutes; when I test again, he is back to lower numbers..but...I am sure you know this already!

Totally cool about Pink's parents; she seems very strong and completely comfortable in her own skin!

Bubba's cycles are all green except the low blue AMPS he likes to pop every 3-5 days.

I agree about Pink.

That isn’t the same for SLGS tho is it?

Unfortunately SLGS does not mention re long term diabetics. Me reducing when he hit 5 (90 for you Americans) was not a good idea.
No, it doesn't. However, you can modify SLGS once you get good data for your cat and if he holds reductions. I modified it for Furball because she did not hold reductions when I took them at 90. You can lower that number if you need to as long as you know Silver will stay safe if he goes a little lower.

Oh! thanks for that. Good to know.

EN translation: I think this info is important to you. The benchmark value "90" is not absolute, in the sense that if we find that a cat that "wins" a reduction for a value of 87, for example, ends up not keeping with this lower dose, we may end up learning that for our cat, it is better to wait for a value under 80, for example, for the reduction "hold". This is where collecting data is valuable because it allows you to adjust the method for your cat - when you have enough experience and you are clear on what you are doing.
