Good morning L& LL,

Rusty had a rough night. His breathing was labored. He seemed very weak. We were scared. We hardly slept and almost decided to go home today. But this morning he was better. He had eaten about half of his nighttime food at some point. This morning he ate all of his breakfast and then a second helping. I decided to try the transdermal pred as compounded by Wedgewood Pharmacy. It comes in a dial-up, pen-like applicator and was very easy to administer. I hope it will help. We all went btb this morning and Rusty is sleeping peacefully (after his second breakfast). Vines for our boy are appreciated! What sort of reaction should I expect from the pred?

Cold, sunny day. We are going walking in Central Park for a little while this afternoon. Dinner at a friend's. We won't linger because we will want to get back to our kitty.

Oh Ella! :bighug::bighug::bighug: Tons and tons of vines on their way express to Rusty! Very happy to hear that he is better now and is eating well!
We had Allen on pred for a short period of time but he got very weak so we had to take him off of it. It doesn't happen to all kitties though.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear Rusty had such a bad night. I’m sending lots of healing vines his way.

A transdermal medicine takes a while to build up to a therapeutic level in the bloodstream, so onset may be slower than you would observe with an injection or a pill. It could take a few days or more to see results. Also, this is not a medication that you take one day here or one day there as needed, but rather something that should be given consistently and tapered off gradually. Did the vet prescribe it to be given daily? Definitely contact your vet if you have any concerns about side effects. Anything like vomiting or a worsening of his symptoms should be brought to their attention.

You should hopefully see him feeling more perky, but perhaps drinking and urinating a bit more. It may help his appetite. I’m really hoping it helps him and that he doesn’t react badly.

Sending snowy cold healing vines for Rusty. Agree with Linda, Titans water intake went up on pred and also his BG. He went from 6.5u to 8u and that's holding him fairly well in the blues. He's on 10mg of pred a day, start reduction on Monday. Rustys appy might also pickup. Good luck :cat:.

Hi Linda,
Rusty's dose is 0.025 ml applied once a day. The applicator contains 1.5 ml. It looks like we have about 2 months worth in this applicator! The vet said not to start it until we needed to. After last night, I think we need to.

Thanks , guys, for your input.
Going out for a short walk now.

Sending healing vines, prayers and hugs for Rusty, you and Edward. Positive thoughts for the transdermal med to help Rusty rally and feel better.
