Good morning & happy Saturday!

Link to yesterday's condo.

Moose was pretty confused (but happy!) to get fed so early this morning (and on a Saturday!) He's not quite used to his earlier shot times yet.

Last night was a bit scary, I am super thankful for everyone who stayed around (and up if it was nighttime!) and helped me through. You are all awesome! :D Moose has earned yet another reduction to .25. Go Moose!

I'm wondering if his blue +6 and higher than normal AMPS were due to the (accidental) large amount of Karo that I gave him last night. I'm assuming that it would have worn off by now, but I won't look too much into it. This is the first time in a while that his AMPS is high enough to shoot & I'll be home to monitor. Let's see what the day brings.

Hugs to all kitties & beans. Have a great Saturday! :bighug:

AMPS = 152

Shot may have been a fur shot...not sure. We'll see. Wondering if I should start checking at +1 since he had a quick onset last night.

Also, Moose just had a REALLY long pee. It sounded like a steady stream, but it seemed like it took forever! I'm hoping that's not a bad sign in regards to his kidneys...getting the creatinine checked again in about 2 weeks. I do mix a decent amount of water w/ his food (per the vet's instruction, as his last urinalysis showed cloudy urine.) I haven't noticed him drinking anymore than normal.

Good morning. The "higher" AMPS could be part bounce, partly influenced by the karo. If you are able to get the +1 tests in for a couple of days it will give you good data on how quickly he onsets. I hope Moose surfs safely today.

Ok I will, thank you :cat:

Good Morning Rae and oh what a night last night! You were amazingly calm and did an awesome job. I agree with Carla to get a +1 as he dived last night and that was after a skipped AM shot. He is on a mission for sure. :cat:

Good morning Bobbie! Thank you, it was you and the others who kept me calm! Otherwise I would have freaked out a lot more!

Will do, just about to get a +1 in a few minutes. Hopefully no dives!

Looks like it could be another active cycle but, hopefully not diving like last night. I think I would get another test in 30 minutes from the last one. If he continues to drop I'd give a little LC food to slow him down. If the drop spread is bigger than last, I would give him some MC food ( a tsp or so) .

I took a little cat nap (with alarm set) so I didn’t see your message until after +2.

+2 = 97

Give LC? Doesn’t seem like it was a huge drop from +1.

Sorry I went back to bed too That was a nice easy drop from +1 to 2. I probably would have given a tsp of LC just because onset is starting.

Let your meter guide you with the next test. If he takes a big jump down , slow him down some.

Good job last night, Moose sure kept you working! Studies have suggested cats have a prolonged postprandial response, over 12 hours, so the AMPS could definitely be the result of the Karo. Not to worry, he will be back on track soon enough.

Given a tsp of LC between +1 & +2?

Yes I'm going to slow him down more, probably w/ MC. I don't think I need to bring out the big guns quite yet.

Oh wow I did not know that, thank you for the info! I definitely gave way too much Karo (by accident, of course) so that definitely explains what's going on with his numbers.

I have a dropper type thing for next time!

Having a bit of trouble w/ the .25U dosing now that I don't have a mark to hit on the needle. I think that I keep under dosing, but I suppose that's better than overdosing. We will see. I used the print out ruler + a lighted magnifying glass, but still couldn't tell if the plunger was exactly between the 0.0 and 0.5. I need to order a caliper!

I think that was absolutely the right move. Now let's see if it actually works to slow him down-- he does seem to like those night-time antics ;) !
Right? Day time (when mom is home and ready for anything!) nothing...just surfing right along. Easy peasy lemon squeezey.

But bring on the nighttime when mom is looking forward to maybe a little sleep, and here come the shenanigans. You're lucky you're so cute and fluffy, Moose. And that I love you to bits!
;)

Oh dear! Looks like an encore performance for Moose tonight! You know what to do. Happy to see there's help available. I'd stick with you myself, but I have one foot out the door now.

If he gives you a hard time and you have trouble bringing his numbers up, there's no shame in taking him to an ER. They're equipped to handle this with ease.

FWIW, I agree with the reduction to 0.1 unit. There *might* be some depot at play (even with the two skipped shots) since the last 0.75u dose, but it's so much easier to take the dose back up (if necessary) than to fight low numbers cycle after cycle.

Yes, deja vu indeed. No worries that you can't stay, I appreciate you stopping in regardless. I feel prepared tonight, as you all gave me very valuable information and assistance last night.

Very true, I will definitely keep that option open. Whatever it takes!

Agreed, I'd rather have to bring the dose back up than continue the song and dance with the hypo. I don't want there to be any permanent damage from all of his slips into low numbers. That is my greatest fear.
