Maybe Not Moving

I don't believe that thread is advocating for adding more carbs. Instead as i read it, the recommendation is to make sure to be looking at calories, protein, and fat - not just carbs when choosing a food to ensure that the cat is getting sufficient calories, and not just obsess about the carb level. Many cats do fine up to 10% carbs, while some folks in an effort to control BG will only feed their cats 0% foods. Sometimes 0% carbs is also a lot of water and fat, and not much protein which can contribute to being under nourished. Hills MD is 13%, so I would be cautious if you decide to introduce that into her diet. That being said, I know you are somewhat limited in food choices, so whatever you have to do can be dosed around.

I agree with Kris that if you don't start seeing some movement in the next cycle or two, your next increase can safely go up by 0.5u. Goma was making some good progress, and she'll get back to it. But it is oh-so-frustrating when a kitty gets stuck like this. Hang in there! Sending healthy vines to little Goma!
,,,,,,,,,,,,<That was Goma, I just left it there so she could have her say. I will try to find some foods that have more calories while monitoring the carb rate as well. 1/2 can of Hills per day as it also appears to have twice the calories of what I am giving. This is what I was looking at in the interim in addition to her regular diet. I hope I can find an answer to all this soon for her sake.

This.

@scs islander - I was trying to get across that currently you don't need to worry about overfeeding Goma; she needs the extra grub right now. :)

Why am I going to jump from 3.25 to 3.75? Why not 3.5?
My mistake - I should have said 3.5 u but I think I had in my mind that post about increasing by 0.5 u while she's in these high numbers. By all means, go to 3.25 u.

ETA: Go to 3.5 u if you prefer.

I’m sorry but I’m getting confused
Earlier in the thread, it was mentioned that you could increase by .5 to get things going more quickly.
It's possible to raise the dose by 0.5 u for a while until you see some better numbers. That's not a large % increase and it might help to get her moving more quickly.

So, I think that is why Kris mentioned going to 3.75. Then when you asked why not 3.5, she indicated that you could by all means go to that (only she put 3.25 - obviously just a typo).

Does that help straighten it out? :)

Sorry but with weeks of little to no sleep things just aren’t so obvious to me anymore. Thanks for straightening it out.

I see that lime green from last night. Normally we'd say reduce the dose by 0.25 u but I suggest you hold it and be ready to monitor. Sometimes there's an initial pronounced response to a dose and then the numbers settle at a higher level.

This is from the protocol for Prozinc: If the cat is high and flat during the entire cycle, the dose could be raised by 0.5 units, as long as monitoring if possible.

You've probably already read it, but just in case, here is the link to the whole thing if you want to read all of it:

Have posted comments in new post. Will not be monitoring this thread as this one has gotten too long and gotten me confused.

She dropped even lower temporarily. Appreciate your looking out for her.
