Sorry for not posting for a couple of days, but I just needed a break from the computer. Squallie has been doing okay. His bg has been up a bit; sadly, I think I know why. Looks like his other upper canine has a lesion, part of which is under the gumline. He can't have it removed because of his age and a slight heart murmur. Please pray for him that it doesn't cause him irreparable harm. I am scared for him.

why does age prevent removing it? (asking because my stepmom's cat, 19, had two -- or was it three? -- surgeries for dental infection that had spread to the nasal cavities; the cleaned everything out, took out some teeth, and now, months afterwards, she's doing better than ever!)

why does age prevent removing it? (asking because my stepmom's cat, 19, had two -- or was it three? -- surgeries for dental infection that had spread to the nasal cavities; the cleaned everything out, took out some teeth, and now, months afterwards, she's doing better than ever!)

The dental specialist thinks it's okay, if he has an echo done first, to go ahead and do surgery, but our regular vet doesn't recommend it. He said if it was his cat, he wouldn't have it done, considering age, heart murmur and the potential beginnings of kidney issues. So that leaves me in a quandary - I definitely don't want to put Squallie's life at risk, with either choice.
