I tested Moose this morning before I left for work and his blood sugar was 52 mg/dl (his last insulin shot was 8pm last night - 2 units of Glargine). He was not exhibiting any symptoms of hypoglycemia like last time. I gave his high carb dry food + honey...but then had to leave for work
I had already called out last week due to a hypoglycemic episode, and could not call out again. Thankfully my boyfriend is at home and keeping a strict eye on him while continuing to give him honey + high carb dry food. Unfortunately, my boyfriend does not know how to check his blood sugar. I will most certainly be teaching him when I see him tonight...He is going to message me when he is about to leave for work, in which case I will take my "lunch" and go home to continue treating Moose and checking his blood sugar.
I'm so scared. I have been crying at work all morning. I have been reading and rereading the "How to Treat Hypos" sticky and texting my boyfriend every few minutes. Per the advice of a lovely user yesterday, I am practicing the SLGS method and know that I need to decrease his insulin by .25...I'm just unsure of what to do at this exact moment since I am not home. Would it be wise to take him to a vet on my lunch break so that he can be monitored all day while I am at work? If his numbers have increased when I get home for lunch, am I OK to leave him by himself? I wish I could bring him to the office with me...
