My cat has black sticky gunk stuck to upper and lower eye lid, any ideas on what this could be Currently being treated with terramyacin as melonoma has irritated his eye and grown bigger

Where is the tumor located? Is it going to be necessary to remove the melanoma or is it not malignant? It might be a reaction to the terramyacin unless it didn’t start at the introduction of the antibiotic. It could be a discharge due to the irritation of the eye. Best to call your vet & let them know. I’m only repeating what I’ve found in the www. I do not know for sure.?!?

usually what color (darkish red/black) the excessive eye boogers discharge caused by eye irritations turns to when it dries up. least thats what it was on my cat who gets eye discharge issues every few months or so. I would say keep an eye out for infection but, since you are using Terramycin already, it would take care of it too. what we use when our cat's discharge does turn to an infection.

The tumor is located on the cornea of the eye. The vet can’t tell me if it’s cancerous unless they do a biopsy. The spot has grown somewhat, this irritation happens every 5-6 months or so. My vet and I agree that removing the eye would warrant game over. He will be on the terramyacin twice a day for 10 days. I think my vet also told me that the black stuff is dried up gunk to when this happened before. On the lighter side marmalades numbers have been good these last two days per SS. The goop started before the terramycin. I was at the vet immediately when I noticed him squinting, it’s always the eye that has the melonoma. I think every time it changes size the eye gets irritated. Who knows what will happen down the road

I read that most are not malignant so that’s a plus! I’m also happy that his bg is doing better! I hate to ask this; but you see my cat has no eyes. Why would removing the eye be game over? I just wondered what that meant is all. Baby had one eye for a year & then the other had to be removed. Ecid
I understand financial burdens! It’s rough, I know.

I am thinking of the cost I don’t even want to think of that. I am hoping that he will only need a second week of the eye ointment.
