Hi my name is Terri and my kitty is Sally, we also call her The Bee. I have a tablet and it is not compatible with Google to download the spreadsheet so I don't know how to correct that problem. I'll just introduce us for now.
I'm a vet derm tech and have not been involved with regular vet medicine for about 4 years. Previous experience in regular vet med 19 years.
Sally is approx 12 years old, she's been with us for 10 years. She was hit by a car and brought to the hospital in which I worked. We thought she wouldn't be able to walk again but she recovered well, with a gimpy walk because they were unable to cast her broken foot due to a laceration on her leg. She is the absolute love of our lives, even though we have 4 other kitties.
Sally was diagnosed with diabetes in July 2014; I put her full time on FF Classics immediately and started her on PZI a few days later. Within two weeks she was OTJ. Late August this year she was seeming different, we determined she had lost a few ounces and a late afternoon spot check BG was 290.
So after 4 months of what we think is a roller coaster I hope that maybe somebody can give us some direction or at least maybe we won't feel so alone.

Hi Terri and Sally. It sounds like you already have some good experience treating diabetes. I have helped some people, but initially got a lot of help from others (including Sharon14).

Kudos to you for getting the spreadsheet going and keeping it updated. That is helpful to you and others as well.

Hi thank you--I love this spreadsheet. Coming to this forum for help with diabetes is just like when I came to vet dermatology from regular vet med. My world was turned upside down; the way a board certified derm treats derm cases is totally a different world from regular vet med. And so it is here; my vet does give good advice, but you can't always reach him and it takes someone with first hand experience in a disease or condition to really know the nuances of treatment I believe, and he as far as I know has not had a diabetic cat. That's where this forum saves lives.
I just have to get over my doomsday feelings and think positive. As we used to say to clients; don't panic, how does the patient look/act/feel?
When its my own pet I lose my mind and don't have good sense, so I appreciate all the advice from everyone.

It looks like you are trying micro-dosing. And Sally is not cooperating, not allowing you to regulate her. You may want to post on the Lantus sub-forum. Others might have advice for regulation.

I actually had her go too low to do a second shot the first day on 0.5 U so regrouped to 0.25 to see how she would do. Panicked when she rebounded the other night and lowered the dose and today went back
because of advice given here. I'll keep checking her then see if I will need to raise I guess after we get a real curve I think. She likes to bounce.
 
Some cats bounce. Leo is not a prime example because he may still have some Acromegaly, and he has SCL. Anyhow, it is bounce city here.
- last 36 hours almost no insulin, and BG 80-180
- normally preshot BG is 280-400, and nadirs are only 150-180

Some cats just are hyper-sensitive to dose changes. I've seen a bunch of it in the forums. Anyhow, with all your experience and your current focus on Sally's health, I am confident she will eventually get regulated and become very healthy.

Thanks Jeff I truly hope so. And I saw your Leo info too and you have a lot on your plate. How recent a picture is this? He sure looks good. He looks like he could be a relative of my Sally. Especially that expression on his face!!
 
We had an issue in 2016. Scoobs died unexpectedly at age 8. Then a neighborhood stray, Little Dude immediately came into our lives. So in 2016, we decided to opt for the very expensive SRT (radiation), so we would not lose both our boys in the same year.

Leo's features are a bit morphed from the Acro. But the SRT was successful and he really is a sweetie. Warning - dose of cuteness in the attached pic from last week.

Absolutely!! Little Dude reminds me of our youngest (1 1/2) Russell. We had to get him because my husband had already had the name in mind. That's a great thing to tell your kid. It's like getting a job because you got the job because you got the uniform.
We just lost our Harley in November. Natural causes he was 20 years and 7 months. You deserve to have the months listed when you are that old!
So how often do you feed Leo I meant to ask you that.
 
That's great that Harley lived to be over 20 years old. Really amazing.

Leo is free fed. However he mostly eats during our prime hours - 14 hours a day. Almost all Fancy Feast classics. He is intentionally a bit overweight. That helps him get through the tough spots, and he has had a few. Just this last week, he had diminished appetite.

Poor guy. Good idea too keep a little extra on I always thought because it's good insurance!
