Hi everyone, just wondering if it's ok feed liver to Molly, she used to love it( on the odd occasion) before she was diagnosed, but haven't fed it since.....Thanks

I have read that a little liver is okay but too much can be bad. It can cause vitamin A toxicity. I have no idea how much is too much though.

On catinfo.org, in the recipe for cat food, it says this about liver: "If using ground rabbit (which includes liver) from wholefoods4pets.com, do not add additional liver. If using chicken legs, thighs or a whole chicken carcass minus the organs, add 3-4 ounces of chicken livers per 3 lb of meat/bones/skin."

Not that it tells us how much is too much, but the ratio she has is 3 to 4 ounces of liver to 3lbs of the rest. So, it seems that a pretty small percentage should be from liver.

Thanks I think I'll leave it then, that is a very small percentage...x

I think an occasional bit of liver is fine. I give Colin 1/3-1/2 of a chicken liver now and then as a snack, and when I get one that’s off their food, a bit of liver often gets them going again.
