Our civvy Tiana developed this rash seemingly out of nowhere. Any ideas? All I can think of is we've been ordering our food from Chewys and like a month ago it started to come in a different can - same food but maybe they changed the formula and she's allergic? I'm gonna call Chewys/Friskies to see if they changed it.

Any chance Tiana got bitten by something? Cats can also develop allergies over time. That does look itchy in the picture. If you ae feeding one kind of protein, can you try switching to another. ie. if feeding chicken, switch to turkey. Fish is also a common allergen.

How is Luna doing?

Luna's doing freakin' great oddly. She's down from 18 units a day to 8, in the last month. Can't think of why.

The food formula has not been changed I called them. I can try switching to something different for Tiana. IDK how long it would take to notice a difference? The stuff she has now has no fish.

I'd love to take her in.. we're broke as a joke at the moment but if it become an emergency. Tiana is indoor cat and has FIV. No way she was bit by anything. Nothing in litter indicates parasites that I can tell.

Thanks. I have amoxicillin which I read is good for skin infections for cats. I am gonna give her that for 10 days and see if it gets better. If it continues I will change her food and give her allergy meds. If none of that helps I'll go to vet.

none of my 10 cats wanted anything to do with the cases of friskies turkey & giblets i bought and i was told it was the same formula too!! but, afterwards when i saw others complaining about their cats suddendly not wanting to eat their friskies' pates, i checked the cans from the variety packs i usually buy to the cans from the cases and sure enough formula ingredients themselves didn't change but, the order/amounts of the ingredients in the case cans sure did, making it NOT the same formula in the end to me..

Try PetSilver on your kitty, a little pricey but, it really works wonders on rashes of all types. after all else failed, it was what got rid of my two long hair cats bumpy itchy allergy rash (called military ?? something).

Also a past cat i had had a rash that look like your kitty's, loss of fur and all, he got it around his back legs too. Vet though food or flea bite/poop allergies but, change of foods/flea stuff didn't help and for about 2 1/2 yrs it would start getting better on its own and than come back full force again. i finally decided it was perhaps something on my husband's work jeans since my Oreos would bombard hubby's legs when he got home from work all the time. i started insisting my hubby start going straight upstairs and changing his work clothes and poof my cat's fur grew back in and he never got the rash/loss of hair again for the rest of his life. if not food or flea/mite allergy, perhaps than your cat is coming into contact with a chemical/work dust or something brought into your house like ours was??

If your husband did any type of manual labor at homes it could have been insulation aka fiber glass. I called Chewy and Friskies they both said no food change but who knows. I'll try that PetSilver product looks helpful.

If you do switch proteins, know that it can take weeks for the old stuff to leave the cats system. So if switch and a couple weeks later still bad, keep on for awhile.
