Not too good. Odan. isn't stopping the nausea. She eats, but only if I put parmesan on top. Her BG this AM is 203. She was anxious and pacing even after eating this AM. When I picked her up with my hand under her bladder area she made a little meow. She is peeing and pooing, although the last few have been pellet-like. Still circling in the box and getting in and out. She didn't want on my lap this morning, but I got her to her bed and she settled in.

Pancreatitis or something else?
 
Poor Maggie, yes this number is a little worry.
It could be Pancreatities ( did she had nausea before or it is the first time?). If she is in pain i do not think she will be able to move, when Meme had nausea she did not move at all and want to eat but can not , and her mouth is watery .

I think it is time to see the Vet.
 
Gizmo doesn't usually vomit with his flares. Canna really seems to help with his discomfort and appy.

If she eats with the parmesan cheese that is good. I don't understand why but Gizmo will eat more readily off a flat plate when he is not well.
 
I am sorry that Maggie isn't feeling well. :bighug::bighug: The pain, nausea, and lack of appetite could certainly be caused by pancreatitis, but circling the litter box and going in and out doesn't seem to quite fit. At least I have never heard of that being a symptom of pancreatitis.

Glad that you have a vet appointment for her... and sending lots of feel-better vines.
 
+3=112 She ate another serving of food and got out of her bed to walk around a bit, but not the anxious, urgent walking she was doing earlier. I picked her up gently to get her back to her bed and she didn't make any sounds, but she obviously is uncomfortable.

That's what the DH said, meanwhile, I'm over here getting all worked up about pancreatitis! :rolleyes: I saw ondansetron can cause constipation. She's been regular enough lately that I could almost set a clock by her... 6 am most days. But the last few days they have been small and made of pellets pushed together rather than a smooth consistency. She taking Miralax, egg yolk, AVJ, pumpkin and a probiotic every day. Gave her some Laxatone with a capsule containing ondansetron and 12mg of gabapentin hidden inside. She has refused food with various toppers since 9am, but I did get her to eat twice before that. Hopefully these meds help her feel okay enough to eat later.

I remembered I had some gabapentin and gave a little, see above. Have had issues in the past with it making her spaced out and way too wobbly.
 
12mg of gabapentin was too much. I woke her to give her a +9 snack and she could barely stand. I was able to get her to eat without toppers though, so guess the ondansetron is working.

Oh no! Is that less than you gave her before when it made her wobbly? I hope, at least, she's not in pain, and the wobbles go away. I've never used gaba before, how long does it typically last?

I'm sure I'll catch you in th morning before you go, but sending some in advance vetty vines for you both! :bighug:
 
Small pellets suggests constipation to me. How is her hydration? Can you increase miralax? If that is it, get the vet to show you how to feel the problem (can be like a handful of rocks). BW will be able to answer the panreatitis question so don't get too focused on that yet.

Hope she feels better soon!

I gave her that much about a year ago and it did nothing. The previous vet gave them to me to use before an appt. that was a couple of hours away so she would be calm for the visit. Had me give 100mg. She was wobbly more than 24 hrs. It was awful! So I experimented with increments that would calm her for appointments. Thanks for the vines, and I'll take some again in the morning if you have time... ;)

She gets lots of extra water in her food because she likes "soup." so I think she is hydrated. I'm adding some more Miralax, so hopefully that will help. Thanks!
 
Please be careful about trying everything in the medicine cabinet. Some medications interact with others and it can create more problems than it solves. I do agree that constipation may be a consideration.

I'm curious why benazepril for proteinuria It's typically used to treat hypertension or congestive heart failure. If your vet is concerned about kidney issues, often hypertension can contribute to the problem.
 
At shot time she wouldn't eat the food again. I had to open a new can of a different food, and that finally got her eating.

Thanks for your concern. I shouldn't have given her the gabapentin.
Benazepril is one of the meds listed on Tanya's CKD site for proteinuria. Maggie does have hypertension that is being treated with amlodipine.
 
Neko was on benazapril for her proteinuria. Thankfully she did not have high BP, when finally tested in an environment without barky dogs. :rolleyes: Gabapentin spaced her out, so I stuck with bupe, which of course can also cause constipation.

Sending feel better vines and vines for a good vetty appointment.
 
I hope Maggie feels better soon! We give Allen cisapride for constipation....when he's really backed up we give him 3 pills a day but for the last few weeks I've been giving him a "maintenance" dose of 1 a day.
That's a better PMPS; hopefully that means she's feeling a bit better.

It is very common to use benazepril for proteinuria. Neko was on it as well as other cats. The action of the ACE inhibitor reduces azotemia.
