Is the cheapest place to buy AlphaTrak testing strips Amazon? I'm pretty low. I just checked Petsmart and it was $70 for 50. I originally bought on Amazon for $53 for 50.
I went ahead and ordered, as I have Prime and I'll get by Sunday.

I have a human meter.

I like the real numbers I get on the pet meter, but not the cost.

What do you guys use?

Many of us use a human meter because of the exorbitant cost of AT strips. We get used to the way a human meter reads and it becomes a non-issue. In the US the Walmart ReliOn house brand is popular. There are a couple of models that take only a tiny blood drop to give a reading.
 
In the beginning of Dx I purchased the ReliOn meter. It looks like I purchased the Region Confirm and thin lancets.


I almost returned it.

What would be considered the "low" and "high"
 
I think I've read the cheapest AT2 test strips are ebay, but it might be worth asking out on the Main forum to see if folks who use the AT2 can help with that. I use a human meter because $$$! And since everything around here is written for the human meters, I just find it easier.

Same here. I use the Alphatrak as primary with an Accu-Chek Aviva human meter for a back-up.

Using the Alphatrak gives me more peace of mind. (I have major anxiety issues.)

These are the ranges for a healthy cat. So 50 is the "take action" number where we recommend feeding to keep the cat from going lower. There isn't really a high range - just anything over 120 being too high for long term.
 
My spreadsheet is set for AT. Should I request a new edit? Or can I just add something in the remark section?

I was in partial denial in the beginning . . . the goal was to use AT only, but now that I see how often I can test and SHOULD test it'll make more economical sense to use human. Pending it goes OK. :nailbiting:
 
I don't know whether Marje or one of the other spreadsheet helpers can change the colour coding for you. Might be worth asking.

I feel so bad though. Ugh.

In the beginning she said I needed to pick one, as I asked for both and she said it gets complicated.

Guess I need to suck up my pride.
 
You could also just do some occasional manual color coding. The only time it is different is between 50-68. The rest of the colors are identical between the two meters.

Or you could just ask Marje ;)
 
Cheapest place for alphatrak strips is Adwdiabetes.com with a discount coupon from Retailmenot.com. I get the bottle for just under $50.
 
I get my AT strips from both ADW and Amazon. I have never gotten them cheaper than $48 for 50 with a coupon and have paid up to $54. Amazon gets them to me quicker with prime two-day shipping. If I want to get them from ADW, I have to be sure to order them well before I am going to need them because it takes much longer to receive them.
