It's me, Mara and Ace back again. This time looking for some help with helping Ace and his "aunt" Casino lose some weight. She is just plain obese and he is very overweight. I have his diabetes under control without having to give him insulin but he needs to lose weight. We got a prescription diet food through the vet, it's Hills Digestive/Weight Management. It recommends he should get between 3/4 to 1 cup a day. Since we're also giving them a packet of wet food each day we are giving him 3/4 cup of the dry.
The problem is that he was "free bowling" before with a different dry food and now we're feeding 3 times a day. Two of the dry and 1 of the wet. But he's constantly nagging me to eat. He'll be climbing up the side of my wheel chair meowing, pawing at my hand and "nipping" my arm non-stop for an hour or more just 3-4 after he's eaten. I don't know what to do. I decided to divide the dry food up to 3 meals so he's getting 4 smaller meals but that doesn't work either. He's relentless. I've read about trying to be strong and how it should only last a week or two but it's been a couple months and he's still crying for food.
Can someone give me some advice on how to reduce the amount of food he's eating without him feeling like I'm starving him? PLEASE!!!!
