Nice to see a green AMPS!
At PMPS I tried some raw food for the first time. I received a sample pack from FoodFurLife and mixed it with ground lamb. Put about 1/4 tsp. of lamb in with canned food. She ate most of it. A few minutes later I hear the gurking sound. Poor baby threw up everything, on carpet. Fixed her some new food, but of course she wouldn't touch that food with a ten-foot pole now. Tried some Beechnut chicken baby food and she ate a little. I eventually had to pull out the FF to get some food in her, so now I have to transition her back off the FF. Maybe she's just too old and set in her ways to go raw. I do know that I don't want to clean vomit out of the carpet anymore.

Ugh...I hear you about the food challenges. I have the Nature's Variety raw (frozen nuggets that you thaw and serve) I think Mav likes it somewhat, but the civvie doesn't. This morning I opened a can of ProPlan, civvie started swiping with his paw to cover up his serving lol.

That gurking sound is the worst. Funny story...one morning, my civvie gobbled down his breakfast, then jumped up on his cat tower. Started the gurking, my drooler ran over to see what was happening to his buddy...he was stretched up to get close enough, the civvie threw up right into the drooler's open mouth . Nothing for me to clean up though

Sorry about the throw-up. When Allen throws up, he'll eat the same food a minute later When Boomer throws up, he won't touch that food for weeks.

Maybe lamb is too rich - maybe try chicken or turkey? I would switch her off FF immediately. She should return to regular food easily, I wouldn't assume that she wouldn't. FF is so very high in phos.

I do know that I don't want to clean vomit out of the carpet anymore.

I have the same issue - I invested in a small wet/dry vac. A jug with HOT water and just a drop of dish soap. It works for the LB oops's too.

But... Very nice start , but not sure you want to try and repeat how you accomplished it.

Disgusting! LOL!! Forgot to mention that when I tried that food again after she threw up that she took one smell and threw up again in the bowl. No mess to clean up!

Yeah, I wondered that about the lamb. Wish I hadn't used the whole package of the sample, should have divided it into fourths so I could try various meats.

Hmm, had never considered a wet/dry vac. Do you scoop off (eww!) what you can first, or do you just start in first thing with the wet/dry vac?

As an expert on cat messes, it is a lot easier if you can take the solids off before starting in with a carpet scrubber or whatever you are using. We invested in a Rug Doctor carpet scrubber last year and it's amazing .. it put the other 2 machines we bought to shame!!

I agree with Lizzie. Usually when you start off with raw it's chicken or turkey first. The throwing up could be an indicator of the lamb not suiting her. When I gave beef to Bubba, within 10-15 minutes afterwards, he throws up so no more beef.

I bought two black and decker small dust buster type vacs. One was a dry/vac one and the other just dry. DH said to give the in-laws the dry/wet one. I wish I hadn't. Never thought of using it for cat messes.

Ugh. That sucks. Gizmo will go back to the food as long as he wasn't turned off from pancreatitis - then I have to transition him - but he transitioned back relatively fast after the last flare.

I scoop (eww ) as much as I can - especially poo. I use about a roll of paper-towels to scoop - I do ok as long as I can't feel it/touch it <gag>.

The small 1-gal wet/dry stays in my cleaning closet up stairs. I told hubby that if he touched it/used it he would reap the wrath of me. He has a 5 gal in the garage but it is always a mess and never easy to get to - so I bought my own .

I soak the area well with the hot water and let it sit for 5-10 min then vacuum. When I am finished I just dump it out in the toilet and rinse it out in the bathtub and put it up.

I like the wet/dry vac because there is much less "moving" parts to clean. It is just a big, powerful, sucking tube - lol.

I think you just need a dog - way cuter and more efficient when it comes to cleaning up cat messes. And they take care of the leftover cat food too that the cats don't like.

Nice green Maggie. It happends if you tried new food for a first time they sometimes vomit, it is ok.

I’m so sorry about the pukus this morning. Poor Maggie. It could be the lamb or it could be raw. Gracie loved raw but if I even gave her a piece the size of my pinky fingernail, she puked it up. It was too rich for her. I had to start home cooking it and gradually cook the meat less and less. FFL has the info on their website for starting by cooking.

I read on Asia’s condo that Maggie was head pressing again today and you have an app that for her. Best to do that and be sure it isn’t her BP acting up.

Sorry about the vomitus drama. With raw, chicken is recommended as the first to try. Turkey would be later. Having said that, I knew nothing when I first started feeding raw years ago and gave my two a rotation of about 6 different proteins which they handled with no problem. Beginners luck. Though at least I tried the chicken first. Sometimes warming the raw with warm water can help the vomit situation.

I guess I missed that on the FoodFurLife website. The Wellness Core I'm feeding her has lamb and venison, so I guess I thought she'd like it, but didn't consider it would be a higher quality of meat. Live and learn! Thanks!
