Hi there,
Is anyone currently using CBD? Can you recommend a certain brand or dosing for a 14lb cat?
I remember reading somewhere on here that it was best if the CBD was either coconut oil based (MCT) or regular oil but I can't find the thread... I'm thinking it was MCT but not sure.
I've heard that Sol CBD Pet Tincture is good. Information on product here. https://www.solcbd.com/products/sol-cbd-pet-tincture.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks and Happy New Years!!!

There are so many CBD oils out there, I currently am using this one and it seems to be helping Bronx (trying everything natural to help his joint pain). I have heard from some Coconut Oil is not good for cats. This one uses hemp oil as the carrier. I give 7-8 drops 2x/day and he is about 17-18lbs. Also use Cosequin, Turmeric "golden paste" and fish oil to help with the pain.

HI Happy New Year I was wondering how you give Bronx the CDB oils. MY pharmacist said oil can cause pnemonia in a cats lungs? Also do you think it would help Amethyst Asthma and Glaucoma? THanks

I've been using Canna-Pet since November for one of our civvies and it seems to make her more comfortable. She's lived with us less than a year and the vet estimated she's about 4-7 years old, but she's always lain around like an elderly kitty and seemed like her back and/or hips ache. She's very cow-hocked, and after a few weeks on the Canna-Pet, her gait improved. She's still not as lively as a cat her age ought to be, but she is more engaged now.

I tried giving it to Felix for his anxiety, but it didn't seem to make a difference; I wonder if I wasn't patient enough and may try again. Felix is diabetic but not acro, as far as I know. I didn't observe a difference in his blood glucose while he was taking it.

I open a capsule and mix it in food, which has worked fine. We use the regular Advanced, not AdvancedMax.

We haven't tried other brands, but I'd be interested if anyone has tried Canna-Pet but has found something else they prefer.

HI again Do you use the Regular Capsules or Extra Strength? Thanks:cat:
I used the regular (purchased regular 2x's) and the last time I purchased the extra strength. I will purchase the regular strength again and save the extra strength for severe pancreatitis flares. I give 1/2 capsule 1-2 times a day depending on his needs. The Cosequin has greatly helped his arthritis so not giving it nearly as much as I was.

I am concerned about you giving it with the Asthma but as long as your vet says it is ok I would give it a try.

I did a search looking for someone that could give opinion and didn't find anyone. Maybe @Wendy&Neko might have some input.

Quick note - per my vet, they (vets in general) cannot recommend the use of cbd/Canna. It is not "approved" by the board (?) but in talking with her about treating Gizmo with it for pancreatitis she just smiled and nodded while telling me she had "no opinion"

OHHH My vet will much certainly have an opinion:mad:

Sorry, no opinion on using CBD of any form for animals. I never used it. I just finished reading an article today about a vet recently seeing a large number of dogs overdosed on cannibis. The Canadian Veterinary position is that they want to see research before recommending it, though they acknowledge a lot of caregivers are trying it.

Canna Companion is produced by vets (one of the main reasons I went with this product)
Produced by Washington State licensed veterinarians, Canna Companion is made from the mature stalks and seeds of the hemp plant.

They offer complimary consultations - I would give it a try (why not, it is free )

If you do, please let me know how it goes.

Thank Wendy. I am very conservative with giving it, but I am with all his meds and supplements (I am with meds for myself too - never been a pill popper :joyful:).

Is there anyone here with an Acro cat using CBD? I read on most sites selling pet CBD that is was safe to use with other medications but I received a *Warning* note on the one I purchased (same that Bronxs' Dad is using) that some CBD's can block absorption of other meds since they are both processed via the liver enzyme cytochrome P450. Basically the CBD might block absorption of the Cabergoline.
Has anyone looked this? I'm reading mixed things online!!!
@Wendy&Neko I would love to read that article you read if you can find/attach the link! Thank you!

We only have a small handful of kitties here on cabergoline. I don't know if any of them are using CBD's. You may be the first. Did your vet have any thoughts on this? Your vet may have resources that tell him/her about drug interactions. I'd start there.

Two articles, one and two. Maybe you should go hunting around the Colorado State University website - looks like they are doing a study on CBD and unfortunately just dogs. Studying cats always seems to come later.

I would just give the CBD oil at least 4-6 hours apart from the Cabergoline until you get a definitive answer. Bronx was off the Cabergoline before we started CBD.
