New to this foum

My cat Bryant, unknown age, maybe 15-18, diagnosed Dec 26, prescribed PZI insulin, 1u, his first 2 doses yesterday and last night. Using AlphaTrak meter. His number yesterday was 420. I didn't test last night but will test again today. I’m pretty overwhelmed as I read so much conflicting info and realize there is a lot of support but don’t understand the disconnect and difference from the info I get from my Vet! I have even gone so far to try and get a 2nd vet opinion.

Welcome. Sorry about the diagnosis. It's definitly a lot to take in. Good for you testing right from the get go!

What specifically are you concerned about? You may want to start a thread on the main health forum where more eyes will see.

Welcome! The shock of the initial diagnosis is made more stressful by you becoming aware that your vet does not have a clue. Apparently, most do not. You have come to the right place for lots of advice and support.

There are a lot of amazing and knowledgeable people here who will help you as much or as little as you require to get through this! Unfortunately, vets often do not have extensive training or experience in treating diabetic cats. Two different vets may give you two different opinions or treatment plans, and a third may have an entirely new recommendation from either of them. The people here have been in the trenches with this disease, day in and day out, often for years. The advice you receive will be sound, allowing you to make informed decisions about treatment for your sugar cat. Sometimes just knowing the right questions to ask your vet makes all the difference!
