Checking in with Rudy...

Hi,

It's been a few months since I checked in with Rudy, so...

He's been feeling really good lately - even if his numbers don't always show it. He cuddles, plays, grooms. Appetite is great, but not out of control. No unusual litterbox or water bowl activity. I think he's gained back some weight too. I've also been less stressed over him which helps everybody. He's due for a general recheck this month, so hopefully his vet will be happy too.

I did switch him to Levemir a few months back since his numbers were stuck at 300+ for quite a while on Lantus. Very frustrating that it suddenly decided to completely stop working. The Levemir seems to agree with him. He bounces between 2.5 and 3.0 units. 2.75 seems to be his sweet spot. But I've been seeing a lot more blues and dark greens, so I'm very satisfied with how he's doing.

Hi Jen, good to hear from you! Glad Rudy is feeling good and you feel less stressed. How are the rest of your herd?

Hi Jen! It's really good to hear from you and so glad that Levemir is working better for Rudy. The saying is "the best insulin for a kitty is the one that works".

Glad he is showing more blues and greens and seems happy and content.

Thanks for checking in and hope your Holidays are Merry and Bright and a lot warmer than it is right now! We are getting the same Artic blast. Not funny.

Hi Bobbie!

Rudy's been doing well since the switch. I can see so much more of his old personality and it makes me happy. He's got a recheck at the vet in a few weeks. I think she'll like how he's doing too. (Unless it's still too cold or snowy - then he'll reschedule. This cold weather is brutal.)

How's Bubba? Is he back off insulin yet?

No, unfortunately, he lost remission mid Aug and this has been a bit more work than the other three times, LOL But, I am hopeful that he will do 4 times! :cat:

It gets harder each time but I am quite tenacious and Bubba is a Taurus and also tenacious so together we are going to give it the college try!!

I am keeping good thoughts for Rudy's recheck. :bighug:

Awww. Poor Bubba. He'll get back off insulin again. I know it. Is he feeling ok otherwise?

Rudy's recheck should be fine. I don't anticipate any surprises since his last visit a few months ago. I know he feels good, so I'm not gonna sweat it. I'm more concerned about pushing him in his stroller through ugly weather.
