Cubby dropping for PM

Good evening,

I was hoping to get some feedback on Cubby's dosing. His spreadsheet is up to date. I accidentally skipped last nights PM shot and tonight his number was <200 so I didn't feel comfortable dosing him so I skipped it again. Surprisingly, his number wasn't crazy high this morning. My hunch is that because we bumped up his dose to (approx) 1.25u he is dropping lower in the PM and maybe we should go back to 1u? I say "approx" because I am using the U40 syringes and they don't have quarter marks. He has been on a completely wet diet since Saturday. I purchased an auto feeder on Tuesday but he has been breaking into it so Im not sure what times exactly he is eating while I'm working. I am using the ReliOn human meter. Any feedback would be welcome. Thank you!

Hi Allyson! Welcome!

No worries on the approximation - as long as you're consistent in how you do it, that's the more important than if it's exactly 1.25.

What wet food are you feeding Cubby now? What was he eating before?

His numbers are a bit all over the place right now, aren't they? :) My hunch is that going back to 1u might be a good idea until he's had a few more days to adjust to the new food, but I want to confirm what exactly that change is first? Also, how close to 12 hours are you doing the pre-shot tests? Prozinc has a bit of flexibility in the timing, but being off by even 20 minutes can (for some cats) make the difference between a number that is lower than normal and one that is higher than normal, so I just wanted to check if that is something we should consider in looking at the spreadsheet?

You're doing a great job getting started with the testing!

Thanks so much for your feedback! It has been a crazy week so I apologize for the delay in my response.

Cubby was on Blue Buffalo for sensitive stomachs dry cat food before. When I started switching him over we were using fancy feast. This past week we were doing both fancy feast and whiskies. He seems to be doing really well with the whiskies pate so he's on that now.

I typically test him approx 5 mins before 7. That's when my alarm goes off. It takes a few mins to get the test etc. ready so it's right around the 12 hr mark.

He's been spending a lot of time in the blue lately. Even after going back to 1u. We are feeling pretty hopeful right now.

I'm not familiar with Whiskies and don't see it on the food list anywhere. Do you know the carb count?
