Hi all:bighug:

Hope everyone is doing well:cat:

Well i think Meme still loves blue PS :banghead::banghead:, she is doing well on this dose but what if i get back to 0.1 for a while or should i continue with drop dose!!!

Our last Vet visit was good, her vet was satisfied with those numbers. I asked her to make a dental cleaning for Meme and pull her cracked tooth out before any infection happened. She said her condition is not that bad but yes it is the time to take out this tooth and she can have better look when put her under anesthesia and also will do full blood work but she said that she want me to stop the insulin and see what she is doing for a while, she think those numbers are good enough but i know that Meme is not ready yet. I did not discuss it more and i will not giving her insulin on the same day only.

Is there any thing that i have to prepared myself for?? This is the first time that Meme having this procedure. Is it painful ?? the Vet set an appointment on July and hope everything is going well:(.

When Max had his dental I didn’t give him insulin that morning. He had one extraction. He ate a little baby food when he got home but wasn’t interested in dinner. His BG was high enough for a token dose. Since you are just giving a drop you might decide to skip the night dose as well. It can be painful. I was sent home with a few days worth of bupeprenex and did give it to him for a couple of days. Make sure to let your vet know you don’t want Metacam. Gas anesthesia is best because they come right out of it. They should monitor blood pressure and BG. I was told no food after midnight before the dental but water was okay. I’m sure others will chime in. Good luck and I hope it leads to remission. You are just about there and this should do it. .

If there are any extractions, as tiffmaxee says, they'll give you meds for the pain. In my experience, they recover really quickly from dentals, even with extractions, and if she needs that tooth removed, she'll likely be feeling lots better very quickly! Anesthesia is always a little scary, but a dental is a really good thing to do for them.

The only other thing is to make sure that they are going to do x-rays and use those to guide the treatment. A lot of problems can hide for a while under the gumline, so x-rays are really important to make sure that everything that needs to get extracted gets identified and extracted in one shot.

What is Metacam?? Is it painkiller med and should i ask for something else or anything else will be fine??

They will remove her front tooth which i think is the most painfull because it is the bigest one but hope not that much as she is very sensitive to any kind of pain or illness.

Here is a post written on Dentals. From experience here, I've seen a lot of different suggestions from vets on what to do with food and insulin before a dental. When Neko went to her regular dentist, she said no food after midnight, half dose in the AM and PM after the surgery. She just had a cleaning. For subsequent dentals, she went to a dental specialist. He said Neko could have 1/3 of her breakfast up to 6:00AM and half shot in the morning, full at night. One of the differences was the type of anesthesia induction drug. Some lower BG's, some don't. Neko got buprenorphine for pain after extractions and removal of a jaw growth.
